Tiger Woods is one of the world’s most loved athletes. There is no doubt in believing that the golf ace has worked very hard in his career to reach where he stands today. Woods’ fans are well-aware of the hardships he has faced in his personal life. And there are only a few people who have remained close to Woods throughout his adversities in life. One of them is NBA legend, Michael Jordan, who once reflected on how Woods went through a really tough time.

Michael Jordan talked about Tiger Woods’ escape from grief
Jordan was Woods’ best friend. The golfer looked up to Jordan as an inspiration, and soon the two got close and started hanging out together. Jordan is one of the very few people who stuck around the golf legend for a time longer than most friendships last.

Woods’ father was his first coach and his biggest supporter. And the golfer broke down after his old man passed away. Woods looked forward to finding ways to escape from the grief of his father’s death by doing things that Earl Woods loved. Woods’ father was a Green beret, and so the golfer often went to the Navy SEALs’ private training facility and skydived with them.
All this while, Michael Jordan was seeing his friend go through all the pain up close. He could relate to Woods’ pain as this was exactly what he did when he lost his father years back. Jordan used to hop on buses for Birmingham Barons just like his father to feel better.

Describing Woods’ ways of coping with the rough patch, Jordan said, “It could be his way of playing baseball…Soothing his father’s interest.” It was almost like Jordan could see the same pattern being repeated from his past. He could feel the heaviness while talking about Woods’ military trips. After all, the two athletes bonded together so well for a reason.

How did Woods meet Michael Jordan?
Tiger Woods once compared himself to Michael Jordan at a very young age. He idolized Jordan and aspired to become like the NBA professional in the field of golf. However, soon after Woods signed a deal with Nike, the two became great friends. Jordan and Woods were close for more than a decade. But they haven’t hung out together for a long time.
