Harold Varner III has become one of the few golfers to decline LIV Golf to stay loyal to the PGA Tour. Varner considered joining the Saudi-backed Tour but changed his mind after consulting with the NBA Legend Michael Jordan. His decision comes after failing to make the cut at the 2022 US Open.

Michael Jordan is considered one of the best basketball players among celebrities. He rarely makes a public appearance but can most often be found playing golf with other celebrities or sports stars.

Apparently, the 6-time NBA Champion played a crucial role in stopping Harold Varner III from joining the nemesis of the PGA Tour. The Jumpman’s opinion must always be adhered.

Jordan urged Harold Varner III to stay at PGA Tour

Varner and Jordan share a business relationship. The 31-year-old golfer wears the “Jumpman” logo from head to toe because of his endorsement deal with the Jordan’s brand. But the professional relationship between both men has also extended to a friendship.

Varner respected Jordan’s opinion after the NBA Hall of Famer gave him his thoughts on joining the LIV Golf. Varner said, “I think it helps because I’m sure he’s had decisions like this long before I was even born.”

With his six NBA titles, Michael Jordan obviously has the experience of dealing with several contracts during his career. Varner claims this little talk with the NBA Legend was more than enough for him to reject the deal offered by LIV Golf.

Apart from Varner III, PGA Tour players Niemann and Schaufelle turned down LIV Golf’s offer staying loyal to 92-year-old Golf Tour. Harold Varner III claimed he talked to the PGA Tour Commissioner Jay Monahan to make sure he continues in the PGA Tour.

Joaquin Niemann, another promising prospect also cleared the air on him joining the LIV Golf. He said, “Nothing to tell from me. I want to do my best to beat all these guys..” he said addressing all top-ranked players, “…They’re still here, and as long as they’re here, I’m not going anywhere. No chance.”

The 2020 Tokyo Olympics Gold Winner Xander Schaufelle also claimed he wants to face the best golfers in the world, which can only be found in the PGA Tour. Schaufelle also aimed a dig at the LIV Golf players by saying, “Nobody that has left has moved the needle for me.”

Despite the huge money offerings, LIV Golf is still unable to get hold of these players. But only time will tell which Tour will triumph in the end.
