Over the past decade or so, Rickie Fowler’s career has been anything but smooth sailing. Fowler, who early on in his career was considered to be one of the best players without a major, eventually saw his form falter as the years went by.

One of the top contenders for the major this year, the 34-year-old has now offered a glimpse into the small change that has greatly boosted his form!

Rickie Fowler gives insight into his blistering form at the US Open

For its 2023 edition, the US Open has returned to the city of angels for the first time in 75 years. Following the first round of the tournament, Southern California star, Rickie Fowler, has emerged as one of the top contenders for the coveted title.

Fowler, who comes into the major after a T9 finish at the Memorial Tournament earlier this month, carded a highly 8-under 62 at the LACC on Thursday. The impressive score, which included a total of eight birdies, helped the golfer script the lowest round-ever shot in the American Open!

So, what has changed about Fowler’s game in recent times? In a video shared by GolfWRX, the World No. 45 can be seen explaining a small but significant change in his putter. “The tweak was, I worked on some stuff with grip pressure and how I was holding the putter,” he shared. “It allowed me and the putter to do its thing and I wasn’t getting in the way of it swinging.” The PGA Tour pro further mentioned that he had taken an eight-of-an-inch off his putter to better aid his game.
