This prestigious venue will be hosting the Mizuho Americas Open, marking the inaugural arrival of the LPGA Tour to Jersey City. 

The inaugural season of the tournament is scheduled to take place from May 31st to June 4th. Here’s everything you need to know about the first-ever unique LPGA event.

The first-ever season of the tournament is scheduled for a week-long time period with lots of determination and perseverance. The first round will be played on June 1 and the final round on June 4.

In the 2023 season of the LPGA Tour, The Mizuho Americas Open will present an opportunity to witness the finest female golfers from around the globe as they vie for a significant prize pool of $2.75 million. This purse stands out as one of the most substantial non-major championship rewards on the tour.

The iconic golf course: Liberty National Golf Club

The scenic views of Liberty National Golf Club are truly one of a kind. This golf course has some of the most amazing views in golf. The one-of-a-kind golf course was established in 2006. It is noteworthy that this will be the inaugural occasion for LNGC to hold an LPGA event, following its previous hosting of PGA Tour Playoff events and the 2017 Presidents Cup.

“Hosting an original and distinctive LPGA Tour event at Liberty National is one of the reasons we built the club,” said Dan Fireman, Co-Founder and President, of Liberty National Golf Club. 

Who is hosting The Mizuho Americas Open? 

The inaugural season of the tournament is being hosted by LPGA Tour veteran, Michelle Wie West. The former pro golfer is a stunner both on and off the course. She retired from professional golf a while back to focus on her family.

She graciously accepted the invitation to become the host of this marvelous event. Her influence and presence at the event will help make it an even bigger success. 

Non-Profit Partner at the Mizuho Americas Open

Girls Inc. will be the charitable partner for the groundbreaking event. It is an organization that is committed to providing opportunities for girls, particularly from low-income communities, and girls of color, to gain access to more leadership opportunities. 

This NPO inspires the girls to become smart, strong, and bold. The main aim of the organization is to allow girls to implement optimal changes in their lives and become the best version of themselves. 

Founding partners of the innovative event

Mizuho Americas, a prominent corporate and investment bank in the Americas, had a distinct vision for a special collaboration with the LPGA Tour that reflected their shared commitment to fostering opportunity, equality, and nurturing emerging talent for the future.

She also spoke, “We look forward to collaborating closely with the LPGA and inviting colleagues and clients to join in supporting this world-class event that promotes women, celebrates excellence, and sets new standards of competition.”

Format of the event

The format of the Mizuho Americas Open is very unique and groundbreaking. For the first time, 120 LPGA stars will compete alongside 24 junior golfers from the American Junior Golf Association (AJGA) Tour. This year’s event promises to serve as a great source of inspiration for aspiring golfers and will undoubtedly encourage greater participation of women in the game of golf.

Most prominent female players that will be competing at Liberty National Golf Club

Some of the most unfathomable LPGA stars will compete at the Liberty National Golf Club for a purse worth $2.75 million. The confirmed LPGA names for the event are:

1. Lydia Ko

2. Atthaya Thitikul 

3. Minjee Lee 

4. Brooke Henderson

From the AJGA Tour, one of the best competitors will be Katie Li. She is currently ranked 8th junior golfer in the Rolex AJGA Girls Rankings.

Golfers to get complimentary accommodation

The title sponsor of the event announced that all the 120 players f the LPGA will receive complimentary first-class lodging accommodations, and it will be on the house! Their accommodations will just be across the river in NYC and all the golfers will get complimentary ferry shuttle services as well to help them reach the golf course.

Tickets for the forthcoming tournament 

Ticket prices for the tournament vary based on the type of entry and the level of access you desire. There are different ticket options available:

  1. Official Grounds: These tickets grant entry to the tournament grounds, public seating areas, and concessions. 
  2. Garden State Terrace: Terrace tickets are upgraded general admission tickets that provide entry to the tournament grounds and an elegant pavilion. The pavilion offers both covered and outdoor seating, overlooking the 17th green and 18th tee. In addition, these tickets include beer, wine, seltzers, sodas, and snacks.
  3. Clubhouse: Clubhouse tickets provide VIP access to the clubhouse and patio. This exclusive access comes with premier, all-inclusive food and beverage offerings.

How to reach the tournament? 

Everyone who plans on coming by personal car can park their cars at the General Admission parking. It is located at the Liberty Harbor Marina; 1 Jersey Ave Jersey City, NJ 07302. The golf course is just a 6-min shuttle away from here. People should enter from the Jersey Ave entrance and follow the signs to reach the tournament parking.

Ferry transportation is also readily available for fans coming to witness the magic unfold. Ferries are available from the Brookfield Place Terminal in Downtown Manhattan directly to the clubhouse steps of Liberty National Golf Club. The cost a ferry ride is $20 for a round trip.
