Indeed, the incident merely demonstrates the ever-lasting bond between McGee and Sorenstam. The couple married in the year 2009, shortly after the latter retired from her career.

What did Annika Sorenstam achieve at the Colonial Country Club?

One of the most legendary names on the LPGA Tour, Sorenstam was well-ahead of her competition during her days on the course. Indeed, the field looked slim in comparison to her talents, which eventually landed her a spot on the men’s PGA Tour.

Back in 2003, the PGA Tour’s Bank of America Colonial grabbed all the headlines for a very special reason. Among its sponsors’ exemptions was the frame of 32-year-old Annika Sorenstam, who had decided to try her hand on the men’s tour.

The buzz around the course for the tournament week was gratifying. Everybody wanted a word with Sorenstam on how she felt, with fans thronging the course to support the LPGA star.

Sorenstam would eventually miss the cut but not before shooting respectable scores of 71 and 74 at the Colonial Country Club. It was her last venture on the PGA Tour but became a road for others to follow in the years to come.
