Francesco Molinari has been part of three Ryder Cups in his 18-year career. The major winner is now playing at the Nedbank Golf Challenge hosted by Gary Player Country Club in Sun City, South Africa. It’s clear he has his sights set on winning his 7th victory on the DP World Tour.
This year’s Ryder Cup was a thrilling ride for the Europeans as well as the Americans. being a member of Team Europe, Molinari, who served as the vice-captain, has now shown eagerness to play for the 2025 Ryder Cup in Beth.

Francesco Molinari wishes to join the 2025 Ryder Cup Team
Francesco Molinari has made history in his career. He became the first Italian to win the Open Championship in 2018 in the last 70 years. Molinari, with three wins on the PGA Tour and 6th on DPWT, has made a name for himself. His three appearances on the Ryder Cup in 2010, 2012, and 2018 are all memorable events.
In 2010, the Italian golfer made his debut alongside his brother Edoardo Molinar. However, it was in 2018 when Francesco shined through and won all five rounds he played, carding a 5-0-0. He was also part of the European squad in 2012, Miracle at Medinah, where Europeans made a historic comeback.
Coming to the 2023 Ryder Cup, Molinari served as the vice-captain for Luke Donald. Playing at the Nedbank Golf Challenge, Molinari shared his wish to play as a golfer in the upcoming Ryder Cup. He said, “I’d love to play in another Ryder Cup, being part of it this year as vice-captain was obviously a huge honor.”

However, Molinari expressed that “Playing it (Ryder Cup) is another thing, and I’d love to play one more. I don’t know if I’ve it in me or not, but I’ll give it my best.” Molinari has not had a blistering 2023, for his dreams to come true, he has to make a better run in the coming year. Though Molinari is fully capable of doing the unimaginable.

Francesco Molinari’s groundbreaking victories
Molinari made his DP World Tour debut in 2005, winning 6th times on the tour. Certain victories made history for the Italian golfer. In 2018, Molinari was paired with Tiger Woods for the final round of The Open Championship.

Hitting a birdie on the last hole, Molinari claimed the Claret Jug by defeating Xander Schauffele, Rory McIlroy, and Justin Rose. Molinari had a bogey-free weekend at Carnoustie and finished 8 under 276 and became the first Italian to win a major. Moreover, another such feat came in his initial years as well. Molinari won the Italian Open in 2006, his first victory on DPWT, and became the first Italian to do so in 25 years.
