It has been explicitly 37 days since Jon Rahm wore the new three stripes logo and announced to the world his latest partnership. Rahm became a part of the Saudi-backed circuit on December 7, 2023, and is set to make his LIV Golf debut in the coming months with his new team.

The news of Jon Rahm joining LIV Golf garnered many reactions; while some fans disapproved of the Spaniard’s move, LIV lovers rolled out the red carpet for Rahm. Amid warm welcomes, one name stood out—Brooks Koepka. After what went down between the two golfers during the 2023 Ryder Cup, how does the five-time major winner feel about Rahm’s move?

Roughly two months before Jon Rahm’s LIV Golf defection, after the Friday round at the 2023 Ryder Cup, the scores were 6.5 (Team Europe) and 1.5 (Team US). And Brooks Koepka seemed to be a little upset with Rahm while playing the Friday Fourballs.

It was not the scores that had frustrated Koepka, but Rahm. When Rahm and Nicolai Hojgaard played against Koepka and Scottie Scheffler, they had a tie. But Koepka was not pleased with Rahm. Speaking at a post-match interview, he called the 4-time major champion a “child” because of his supposed childish antics, which did not sit well with the 33-year-old.

When Rahm was asked about Koepka’s remarks, the 29-year-old simply stated, “I’ve never had an issue with Brooks, to be fair.” It seems after Rahm’s move to LIV Golf, the 2023 PGA championship winner has forgotten about his past troubles as he welcomed world no. 3 with open arms. “Happy to have him,” he said. Koepka also called Rahm a “great player” and expressed, “He’ll be fun to watch, fun to battle it out in a few more tournaments this year with him.”

Furthermore, Koepka explained that not just Rahm, but whenever a talented player enters the league, he gets excited as he wants to “play against the best.” Rahm did not only receive a warm reception from Koepka, but many other LIV golfers heartily welcomed the Spaniard to the PIF-funded league.

While Brooks Koepka was “happy” with Rahm joining LIV Golf, one particular golfer was overly exhilarated by the news. Even before the 4-time major champ joined the league, Ian Poulter texted him and said, “If this is true, I’m going to cry.” Well, no one knows whether he actually cried or not, but the 48-year-old golfer found it “pretty awesome” that “another world-class name” is playing at LIV Golf.

Another golf veteran, Phil Mickelson, went as far as to call Rahm a bridge between the PGA Tour and LIV Golf. Lefty said, “He’s acting as a unifier, as a bridge to bring both sides together.” While Bryson DeChambeau, Patrick Reed, and Anirban Lahiri were all delighted and applauded the move by the Spaniard.

The first time all these players will get together will be in Mexico from February 2nd to 4th at the El Camaleon GC for LIV Golf Mayakoba. This will be the second full event season of LIV Golf, and with the addition of world number three, it surely will be a blast for the fans.
