The LIV Golf has garnered a lot of criticism since its inception. On the critic list, the PGA Tour members were no exception. But earlier this year, the $3 billion merger between the PGA and the Saudi-backed league came as a shocker to everyone. It also implied that LIV golfers could participate in some selected PGA tournaments and won’t be banned from competing.

Now, months after the victory in the men’s golf regal league, LIV Golf might have success on the LPGA circuit as well. While the commissioner actively seeks sponsors, she might not hesitate to seek LIV’s assistance if provided.

The latest revelation from the LPGA Tour commissioner signifies a vital change in the women’s golf circuit

Last year, LIV came forth as a new installment in the golf world, and most people showed their censure for it. But defying the crowd, the LPGA Tour stood as a strong supporter of Yasir Al-Rumayyan’s team.

The aim of Mollie Marcoux’s doing so was to see if LIV served as an opportunity to support the LPGA and promote women’s golf henceforth. And, most likely, anybody would have done that given the huge influx of money invested in the PGA Tour, while seven-digit payouts in LPGA events are rare.

Marcoux Samaan recently disclosed that they are looking for a strategic advisor and sponsorship for the league to uplift women’s golf and get better coverage. In an interview, she said, “When you start to look at the commercialization of the two [competitions], they become apples and oranges.”

She continued, “There’s been tremendous investment in the Ryder Cup, and the results have followed because it’s a great product… I’m 100 percent convinced that if we got even a small percentage of the investment made in the Ryder Cup, the Solheim Cup could be a huge home run for players, for fans, for broadcasters, and sponsors.” Hence, her desperation to get investors is evident from her tone

Also, given their past willingness, the tour might not hesitate if they get financial backing. Apart from the commissioner, there are two other LPGA stars who shared their opinions about LIV Golf.

LPGA golfers voiced their stance on women’s LIV Golf Tour

In a July 2022 interview, Greg Norman was asked about his likelihood of having a women’s golf team in LIV Golf. To which the CEO replied that internal conversations have been going on considering whether women would be interested in taking part in the PIF-funded league’s offer.

As the matter was inquired about with Nelly Korda, she said, “My eyes are set on the LPGA. That’s all speculation to me. I’m focusing on the LPGA Tour and what’s in front of me.”Thus clearing out that she doesn’t want distractions.

Shedding light on the same, Lexi Thompson said, “I know Mollie said that she would have conversations but that’s not in our control. We are just doing what we can on our tour.”
