Comparing Rory McIlroy to a Greek God
Former American Golfer Brandel Chamblee recently opened up about Rory McIlroy as he talked about how his time is running out to win major championships. He mentioned that while McIlroy does look like a Greek god and “is ripped”, he will slowly fall out from his prime as he grows older.

While mentioning the Irishman’s age and form, he said “at 34 he doesn’t have as much runway in front of him as he did when he won his last major.” While continuing on to talk about statistics in other sports. He mentioned how soccer players are dismissed from their teams because of the numbers which show that they have reached their statistical prime. Chamblee also mentioned how a sportsperson’s body reaches its prime when they are 26/27 years old.

Brandel went on to talk about how many factors affect a golfer’s form as they grow older. He mentions optical and mental acuity as he sheds light on the Irish professional’s current form and these little things affect the speed and precision of a golfer, thereby affecting his form. But, while all is said and done, it can’t be denied that “Rors” has put up a memorable performance at the recent Open Championship.

McIlroy’s performance at The 2023 Open
As Rory clinched his 20th top 10 finish at a major championship since 2014, his impressive albeit disappointing run helped him stand strong at No. 2 in the OWG Rankings. He finished T6 in the 151st Open Championship at the Royal Liverpool Golf Club, the same place where he won his last Open. The 34-year-old went on to score a 6-under 278, taking home a prize money of $551,250.
As McIlroy aims to give it his best for the upcoming tournaments, his mind will undoubtedly turn to the important Ryder Cup.
