The LPGA’s Kroger Queen City Championship is currently unfolding at the Kenwood Country Club in Cincinnati. Ally Ewing, who clinched the title in the tournament’s maiden edition at Kenwood Country Club in 2022, has returned to the greens. She’s not alone; leading golfers such as Charley Hull, Minjee Lee, Lydia Ko, Brooke Henderson, Lexi Thompson, Rose Zhang, and Jennifer Kupcho are also vying for the title.

Kenwood CC, a remarkable course with a par of 72, spans an impressive 6,548 yards. During the third round of the Kroger Queen City Championship, this LGPA Star faced difficulties but still she came out shining.

LPGA star shines even after facing difficulties on the course

The Kroger Queen City Championship is going in full swing at Kenwood Country Club in Cincinnati, Ohio with a prize purse of $2,000,000.00. The Swedish LPGA Star Madelene Sagstrom is also a part of this championship. The Swedish professional stands at T5 having scored 69 (-3) in the first round, 68 (-4) in the second, and another 68 (-4) in round 3.

In her post-round interview, when asked about her performance in the third round, Madelene Sagstrom responded, “I thought it was really tough. It got breezy. It got firm. A lot of calculations. My brain is kind of tired at the moment.”

She continued, “It was also very, very slow, so no real momentum. I’m very happy. I think I struck it well when I needed to, and I took my medicine when I needed to. I putt quite okay. My speed was, I guess, maybe not so great, but I made all the second putts.”

When asked about her approach for Sunday, especially with the prospect of her first win since 2021, Sagstrom, who is four strokes off the pace, responded, “I think I’m just going to keep doing what I’m doing. It’s about being in position here. I think it’s going to stay firm. They’re going to keep pushing the greens hard, so it’s firm and fast, so I’m just going to try to stay in position, hit some good shots, take my medicine when I need to, and hopefully the putter goes on fire.” Whatever happens on Sunday, there wouldn’t be much time to either celebrate or regret because a massive event is on the horizon.

Madelene’s strategies for the upcoming event

Over the past year, Sagstrom competed in 20 golf tournaments and landed two top-10 spots. Notably, she has made it to the top 10 in one of her last four events. Once the Kroger Queen City championship wraps up, players will set their sights on the Solheim Cup, scheduled from September 22-24 in Spain.
