Back in 2000, Woods was embarking on a journey that very few golfers had achieved. ‘Tiger Slam’, a golf term similar to Grand Slam, refers to when Tiger won four Grand Slams continuously from 2000-2001. However, no wins out of the four came in easy for the Hall of Famer.

During the final round of the 2000 PGA Championship, Tiger was competing against veteran golfer, Bob May. The intriguing battle between golfing greats was so enticing, it eventually led to the Playoffs. However, it was during this when Woods gave the golf world a moment to remember, and a few hysterical words to his caddie.

The 15-time Major winner got on the greens. As the pressure was mounting, Woods finally struck the shot. But as he struck it, Tiger ran across the green waving his anger at the hole in one of the most unusual celebrations. After scoring a birdie with ease, his caddie back then asked Woods if he wasn’t worried about the putt.

Stevie’, called the golfer and said, “My mum could’ve made that putt. I’m Tiger Woods – I’m supposed to make that putt. It ain’t no big deal, Stevie. One of the stranger celebrations I’d seen him do”, Steve Williams revealed, in the 92nd page of his autobiography, ‘Out of the Rough’.

The excitement for the hole was totally understandable, as it proved to be the difference between Woods and May. After similar pars on the final two holes, the birdie in the first hole helped Tiger become the first player since Ben Hogan in 1953 to win three major championships in the same year.

Though the win at Valhalla Golf Club was not usual, Tiger’s celebration in the Playoff is what most fans recall from the 2000 PGA Championship. It gave the fans a better look at how much a win means for the Hall of Famer. And eventually, it was that fighting spirit in him that helped Tiger Woods claim the ‘Tiger Slam’.
