On Wednesday, the Greystone Golf and Country Club in Alabama kicked off the year’s first PGA Tour Champions major with a celebrity pro-am. Former NBA superstar and current TNT analyst Charles Barkley was among the many famed personalities who participated in the star-studded event.
He, however, was in for a pleasant surprise as his friend and much-loved golfer, John Daly, made an unexpected appearance on the course. Barkley even engaged in a wholesome banter with the two-time major winner, who recently became the subject of worry due to his knee-related challenges.

John Daly appears to be in good spirits ahead of scheduled knee surgery
Daly often keeps the golf world entertained with his antics on and off the course. But, from a cancer diagnosis to knee replacement surgery, he has had his fair share of health-related struggles. Recently, the golf pro also pulled out of an event in Scotland due to an upcoming knee procedure.
Nonetheless, fans can catch the golfer at the 2023 Regions Tradition, the year’s first PGA Tour Champions major. Daly even appeared cheerful as he crashed Charles Barkley’s opening tee shot during the pro-am ahead of the main event.

NBA Hall of Famer Barkley couldn’t be happier as he spotted Daly on the course. He even went on to refer to the PGA Tour pro as “One of the best guys you [are] ever gonna meet.”

Daly, meanwhile, responded by saying, “That’s my younger brother!” inciting laughs from the spectators. His jolly nature will definitely alleviate fans’ worries regarding his fast-approaching knee procedure.

Daly cancels guest appearance due to knee predicament
John Daly has amassed a vast and loyal fanbase over the past decades. He was even slated to make a guest appearance at an event in Scotland but has now canceled. The event dedicated to Daly’s illustrious career was set to be held at Torrance House Club in East Kilbride on July 28.

Per Glasgow World, event organizers Artistes International Management (AIM) broke the news of the golf star’s withdrawal in an email. Per the latest information, Daly will be undergoing surgery for his knee problems in just a matter of days; naturally, he will then be taking some time away from the sport to recuperate. Both his fans and the golf star himself will certainly be hoping he has a speedy recovery post-surgery and that he can get back on the course soon!
