The overall golf broadcasting experience has been criticized several times over the past year, be it the LPGA Tour or the PGA Tour. The major hit in this bombardment of prolonged advertisements coupled with a lack of proper scheduling has become a common norm, more so for the LPGA Tour. This long-lasting systematic failure has severely impacted the ongoing Chevron Championship.

The third round of the ongoing female major was suspended on Saturday because of bad weather, and the game resumed on Sunday. This is when the issue was brought to attention. The event’s official page posted, “Play has officially resumed,” to which No Laying Up on X replied and shed light on the broadcast mayhem.

Giants like the Golf Channel have preferred showing the re-run of the PGA Tour’s RBC Heritage over the final round of the LPGA Tour’s crucial major event, possibly highlighting their preference for one over the other. Instead of making use of the spotlight it rightfully deserves, the Chevron Championship is being aired on ESPN+, an online platform with critiques of its own.

The event features Nelly Korda, who seems to be on a winning streak and is eyeing the event for her historic fifth consecutive win. If Korda wins, it will add her name alongside the likes of Annika Sorenstam, and Nancy Lopez. With the way she is playing, she might just create history, and clinch her second major title.

LPGA Tour fans have been facing severe limitations in accessing this possibly historic moment live. From the shadows of paywalls to the wrath of ignorance and dismissal, the start of the majors on the women’s side of the game has not been able to exceed expectations. When brought to the attention on X, fans reacted to this curtain of limitations.

A hurt fan experiencing a dearth of TV time for LPGA’s first major of the season expressed their feelings. They seemed to be shocked and brought forward the longing female and male golf discussion into the picture. They wrote, “We simply can’t put women’s golf on TV except for two hours a day during the allotted time window. Even if it’s a major and the leaderboard is stacked,

Another user on X said, “You’re telling me there is an LPGA major going on and Nelly Korda has a chance to win her fifth consecutive start… and the only coverage with the leaders on a course is a featured pair option on ESPN+? How are US golf broadcasts so consistently awful?” The viewpoint highlighted the larger systematic failure of the US golf broadcasts and their consistent attempts at making no improvements whatsoever.

One netizen remarked, “The @lpga has hidden the first major of the year behind paywalls. I wonder how the rest of the season will be. And they wonder why, 4-5 in a row, Nelly isn’t doing what basketball did. I could watch that. I can only see 3-hour peeks through excessive commercials for the final round.”

Speaking for most of the golf world, one of the fans questioned, “Shame I can’t watch on TV wtf is going on?” The decision by the Golf Channel to sideline the women’s professional golf event has faced multiple criticisms overall.

The lack of TV experience not only limits fans’s enjoyment but also strips many of them away from keeping track of the game. Do you agree with this too? Let us know in the comments below.
