Brooks Koepka was yet to hit a tee shot when Mother Nature unleashed her wrath at Sentosa. Thunderstorms with massive gusts of wind have halted the Saturday round in Lion City. LIV Golf Singapore will likely start four hours later than scheduled. So far, the PIF-funded side managed to avoid inclement weather that battered the PGA Tour this season.

The ongoing CJ Cup Byron Nelson was delayed by an hour on Thursday because of rain. And, in Singapore, LIV officials are facing an AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am-like situation, when the final round was canceled altogether. Netizens suggest Norman & Co. should follow suit because apparently “no one cares” about LIV Golf.

Per Weather.com, thunderstorms are expected to continue till 3 PM local time. Precipitation is expected to reach 68% on Saturday, with temperatures rising to 78F. Chances of rains remain above 60% till 1 PM local time. Per LIV Golf’s official website, the second round of the $25M purse LIV Golf Singapore won’t start before 1.15 PM local time (1.15 am EDT).

Gates have been closed as well. Sentosa Club will open around 12.15 PM tentatively. But that’s subject to change depending on how the thunderstorm progresses. Overcast conditions will prevail on Sunday as well, with a 49% chance of rain.

Per early forecast, a thunderstorm was likely to move in late Friday. Last year too, LIV Golf Singapore faced a two-and-a-half-hour rain delay in the opening round. Weather once again halted play on Sunday for more than an hour stopping Talor Gooch in between his spectacular round. While LIV Golf fans hoped the round would resume soon, others took the opportunity to attack the breakaway side.

Netizens claim no one cares about LIV Golf

The timezone difference makes it more problematic for overseas fans. For example, when Jon Rahm tees off, it would be around 4 AM in his native country. In most parts of the USA, it would be around midnight to early morning when the second round finally kickstarts.

One fan tweeted, “Worst news to wake up to after taking a 3 hour nap to prepare for staying up all night lol.” Also, a further delay might leave some player’s rounds unfinished. However, some hoped a shotgun start would speed things up. “At least it’s a shotgun start. That will save a lot of time. Golfbutshotgun.

But others ask who cares? Barring the massively successful LIV Golf Adelaide, the PIF-funded side has struggled to draw eyeballs. In fact, the PGA Tour still generated three times more linear TV viewership with a repeat AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am broadcast than LIV Golf Mayakoba.

One fan joked, “Should just cancel the event. No one cares.” Another was at their sarcastic best replying, “All 3 attendees thank you for the update.” “It’s ok lol. Nobody’s watching anyway,” a third commented under LIV Golf’s official post.

Some even took the opportunity to poke fun at PIF’s $700B war chest. LIV Golf has lured a handful of PGA Tour stars spending over $100M on each. But can Greg Norman buy Mother Nature? Surely, they will try, one fan joked. Sebastian Munoz leads the field after a 6-under 65 first round. Six players including Brooks Koepka, was on shot behind the Colombian star. LIV Golf Singapore will provide further updates depending on the situation.
