The greatest golfer of all time, Tiger Woods, did not become great quickly. Today, he is a legendary golfer because he was dedicated and devoted to golf. There are many outstanding golfers, but they are not the same. Then, what is it that makes Woods different from others?
His former caddie revealed the one quality that separated him from others. Steve Williams was on the bag of Woods for his 13 major wins. No one knows him better than Williams. All the victories and ups and downs were experienced by both of them together. However, they parted ways after Woods’ alleged scandal. Earlier this year, the former caddie unveiled unknown facts about the golfer.

Is Tiger Woods the epitome of a dedicated golfer?
In February this year, longtime former caddie Williams was part of a series of podcasts named ‘Chasing Majors‘. Evin Priest, an Australian writer at Golf Digest, accompanied him. Episode 3 of the series was surprisingly interesting, as Williams revealed many secrets. Fans learned about that one thing that separated Woods from other golfers. Williams told the one thing the former number-one golfer never did and why it set him apart.
After every tournament, players sign the scorecard and look at the prize money flashing on the screen. It was for players to understand how he was doing and how much money he would take home. Unlike everyone else, the Hall of Fame golfer Tiger Woods never looked at the screen for his prize money. Explaining the golfer’s dedication, he said, “Tiger never, ever once took a look at that. . . . He played to win trophies and create records, not for prize money.”

Williams sure admired many things about the PGA pro; however, this was the one thing that made him a hero. The 15-time major championship winner could win 15 times only because he focused on golf and never on money. He aimed to break records and create new ones. Winning prize money was never Woods’s focus. The former caddie explained his awe, “He’s the only player I’ve ever caddied for, the only player I’ve ever seen who never, ever looked at that sheet.”

Why did Williams and Woods part ways?
For a decade since 2000, the William – Woods duo was doing wonders as they registered multiple wins under the names. However, things fell apart when the pro golfer fired his caddie in 2011. They did not mention the reasons; however, many speculations were in the air.
Woods fired Williams because he went on caddying for Adam Scott at the U.S. Open and Open Championship in 2011. Probably the golfer got upset as he was recovering from his injuries. He felt betrayed and fired his caddie. However, according to the caddie, Woods permitted him to caddie Scott but later changed his mind.
