Sunday takes a heartwarmingly bizarre turn for men’s golf

The golfing world saw a unique historic moment on Sunday as two left-handers won their respective championships, naming the day a ‘Left-Handed Convention’. Brian Harman went on to win his maiden major championship at the Royal Liverpool Golf Club, while Akshay Bhatia claimed his first PGA Tour victory at the Barracuda Championship!

In a post-match interview, Bhatia mentioned his excitement for Harman and his whole team. Aside from winning on the same day and being lefties, the two golfers are from the same agency to boot. “It’s kind of cool that two lefties won on the same day,” continued the 21-year-old as he addressed the presser.

As the Open Championship proved to be a happy occasion for one left-hander, it was a bit disappointing for Phil Mickelson. The golfer, popularly known as ‘lefty’ , could not make the weekend cut as he finished with scores of 77 and 74 in the first two rounds. Harman went on to finish first with a score of 271 (-13), while in the Barracuda Championship, Akshay won the playoff hole after a tie with Patrick Rodgers at 40 points.
