Pulling Out of the NFL Pro Bowl, Buffalo Bills Quarterback Set to Play at the Upcoming PGA Tour Event

The 2023 Pebble Beach Invitational is one of the most anticipated events on the tour. Not only are the fans excited about the competitive field of pros, but also about the celebrities that are participating. This is because the California event is one of the pro-am events on the PGA Tour. Among the all-star line-up of celebrities is another athlete who is returning to the event. Despite citing an injury for one of the NFL’s biggest events, Josh Allen has surprised the world by confirming his place at the pro-am.

The AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am will see 156 amateurs paired up with 156 golf pros this week. The event is sure to be filled with excitement considering the athletes, celebrities, and movie stars in the line-up.

Josh Allen will play on the PGA Tour this week

The quarterback has been making headlines for his recent move. As per USA Today’s recent report, Allen recently withdrew from the NFL Pro Bowl, citing an elbow injury. Baltimore Ravens backup quarterback Tyler Huntley replaced the Buffalo Bills star. But despite his injury, Allen has confirmed that he will be playing at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am instead.

The Pro Bowl begins on the 6th of February, while the Pro-Am begins on the 2nd of this week. Many have jokingly suggested that Allen called in sick to work to play golf on the side. But having injured his throwing arm, the quarterback simply cannot risk contact at this point. The pro-am, on the other hand, seems like a safer bet for him.

Allen isn’t new to the event. He participated last year and was paired with PGA Tour star Keith Mitchell. Unfortunately, the duo did not make it past the third round. But the NFL star will certainly be looking to change that this year.

The NFL star proclaimed his love for golf

“If I can golf every day, I would,” the avid golfer stated in a practice round before the 2022 pro-am. “It’s my favorite thing to do.” Allen stated that when he was called by his agent and asked if he wanted to compete in the pro-am, he said, “Absolutely, like can’t say no to that.”

The experience at the event was so exciting, that the Bills quarterback has once more made his way to the PGA Tour. He’s joined the cohort of many athletes like Gareth Bale, who has recently retired from professional soccer, and Green Bay Packers rival Aaron Rodgers.
