‘Waiting for a Jay Z Featured’: Justin Thomas Jumps on ‘RiRi Train’ After Rihanna’s Spectacular Super Bowl Performance

The thrilling day in Phoneix saw an enticing day of competition in both golf as well as football. Justin Thomas, who was a participant at the WM Phoenix Open, may have been in the top five of the event, but never came close to winning it. Nonetheless, following his defeat, the golfer sought pleasure from Rihanna’s Super Bowl halftime performance.

The PGA Tour saw a close finale to its tournament, as Scottie Scheffler bagged home $3.6 million from his win at TPC Scottsdale Stadium Course. Meanwhile, Thomas ended the event in 4th position, despite an incredible 13 under-par total score.

Following the conclusion of the Phoenix Open, the sports world moved its eyes to the other side of Phoenix, where the Superbowl LVII was taking place. While many acknowledged the amazing performances of both quarterbacks, JT had some words for the halftime performer Rihanna, while also remembering rapper Jay-Z.

Justin Thomas has always been a RIRI fan

The 2023 Super Bowl saw Patrick Mahomes’ Kansas City Chiefs defeat the Philadelphia Eagles with a field goal in the last seconds. However, many viewers had more to say about Rihanna’s halftime performance than the thrilling game. Among many was Thomas, who took to Twitter during halftime to share his thoughts.

The two-time Major winner first tweeted, “Just keep waiting for a Jay Z featured appearance with all these Rihanna bangers”. While the singer took everyone down memory lane with songs from her early albums, many songs included Jay-Z as a feature. Unfortunately for JT, the Brooklyn-based rapper didn’t have any role in the performance but was in the stands instead.

Following Thomas’ tweet, many Twitter users trolled the golfer for his surprising admiration towards Rihanna. But the former world number one didn’t shy away as he claimed to be a fan of the singer for many years. “FWIW I have been on the RiRi train for a while. That was great”, tweeted the golfer after Rihanna’s performance.

Justin Thomas has been one of the most active golfers on Twitter. While many resist sharing their love towards an artist, JT has been proud and loud about it. Perhaps, he must have heard Rihanna’s music before his two PGA Championship wins, which eventually motivated him.
