The fashion side of the golf world was once abuzz with style and substance, thanks to Nelly Korda. In 2023, when this rising star signed with Nike, everyone was betting on a grand slam of fashion and fame. And she did deliver… until she didn’t. Fast forward two years, and Korda’s making headlines for a different reason – her “worst” outfit choices ahead of the 2025 AIG Women’s Open have fans talking.

During a practice round ahead of the final women’s major of the season, the World No. 1 was donning… camouflage cargo pants and a Nike olive jacket, a white snapback, and shoes. In another picture, she is wearing the same camouflage-patterned pants but now with a taupe-colored long-sleeved top. Needless to say, the golf fans are not amused — neither with Korda, nor with Nike.

Moreover, this isn’t the first time a pro’s Nike outfit has drawn attention, for all the wrong reasons. Despite the brand’s reputation, in the 2021 TOUR Championship, Brooks Koepka’s Tiger Woods-like outfit choice – a black short-sleeved turtleneck with a white Nike hat – drew heavy criticism from fans, with one of the fans even lamenting, “What is this look.”

However, one reason behind the shock is that questionable wardrobe choices aren’t exactly Korda’s style – she’s usually on point, even if she occasionally has her fashion slip-ups. Take, for instance, her 2024 Olympics outfit, where during a Tuesday practice round, Nelly Korda wore a USA visor with red, white, and blue shorts. Her blue jacket said “USA 24 Golf” on the back in red and white lettering.

Not her best outfit choice, especially considering that around the same time, Korda gained widespread nods from the golf world for wearing a white Nike tank top with what appeared to be blue yoga pants and a beige hat. And it was all for a workout routine! At that time, golf fans rallied behind her outfit choice, saying, “She looks fantastic,” and “Best in the world,” something that they refused to do this time, for either her or her sponsor.

Golf fans have nothing but criticism for Nike and Nelly Korda

Following a Golf.com update about Korda’s outfit choice during the practice round, fans gave their verdict on it, saying, “Did the airline lose her luggage forcing her to go to a nearby army surplus store for gortex?” This would be fun to explain. After a moderate finish at the 2025 KPMG Women’s PGA Championship, Nelly Korda took to the skies – literally – on a Delta flight, only to have her travels take a turn when she lost all her luggage. At that time, she made a desperate plea to the airline and said, “And all of my bags are lost! @delta plz help 🥲.” She eventually got all her luggage back, however!

One fan couldn’t help but laugh and take a dig at the outfit choice and NIKE and posted, “Worst golf pants ever?” We hate to agree! A third fan re-wrote Nelly Korda’s upcoming schedule, quipping, “Tee time at 2 and basic training at 7.” This 2025 AIG Women’s Open will mark Nelly Korda’s 9th appearance in the event, and fans will be hoping for a better finish than last year, where she finished a T2. Hopefully, Nike will have a better outfit recommendation for her on this Sunday week!

What’s your perspective on:

Nelly Korda's camo look: fashion forward or a fashion faux pas on the golf course?

Have an interesting take?

One fan hilariously played along with Korda’s camouflage outfit choice and quipped, “Are you gonna show us her fit or just a picture of the course?” and another said, “This goes so hard.” While many golf fans might not agree, one of Korda’s outfits did land her under intense scrutiny – and that was way back at the 2019 Solheim Cup, where she wore star-spangled pants paired with bold red and white striped socks.

However, the point is, let Nelly Korda focus on her game – she’s got a bigger mission this week at the 2025 AIG Women’s Open, where she’s aiming to finally end her winless streak.
