While Tiger Woods is in no condition to play professional golf whatsoever, he still preserves his love for the game. The golf legend hasn’t forgotten his mates from his time at the course and continues to cheer for them from his television screen. The brotherhood was further evident after Woods’ recent clamor about former playing partner Fred Couples’ achievement a fortnight ago, which was detailed by the former’s current caddie, Joe LaCava.

Tiger Woods erupts in joy after Fred Couples victory

While golf fans were split for coverage with multiple competitions in progress, many would have let the SAS Championship slip under the debate. Who would possibly watch the old man’s competition when there were other lucrative events with top players on the show? Apparently, another old man.

According to caddy Joe LaCava, the Woods household was all in at the PGA Tour Champions event, played in North Carolina at the Prestonwood Country Club. LaCava, who has caddied for Freddy Couples in the past, revealed he was following the championship on his phone.

With only a few holes left, LaCava received a text message from his current boss. “I did follow it [Couples’ round] on my phone, and I got a little excited because I got a text from my current boss, Tiger, who said, ‘Are you watching?’”

LaCava pokes fun at Tiger Woods

The 64-year-old knew what Tiger was referring to, so instead, he decided to play a needle with his boss. “Yeah, I’m watching the Giants get another victory,” he lied, which was quickly snuffled out by Woods.

“He said, ‘No, you idiot, I’m talking about Fred,’” LaCava said. “I said, ‘I know what you’re talking about.’” Woods was in awe of Couples’ performance and decided to dish out impressive one-liners on the victory.

“He says, ‘I may switch to the yellow ball the way this thing is rolling in the cup,’” LaCava grinned, before firing another one of Tiger’s lines. “He said, ‘Thank gosh somebody else can beat Y.E. Yang, because I couldn’t.’”
