Lydia Ko recently won the CME Group Tour Championship on Sunday in Naples, Florida. She also earned the Player of the Year honors and another Vare Trophy for the lowest scoring average. The golfer is very close to being eligible for qualifying for the LPGA Hall of Fame. However, she is not too concerned about it as per her recent interview.

Lydia Ko about the LPGA Hall of Fame

After her recent victory, Ko is merely 2 points away from qualifying for the Hall of Fame. The golfer is currently on 25 points after her three triumphs. And the number of points she requires to reach the pedestal is 27. But according to her recent interview, Ko is not focused on making it to the Hall of Fame.

In her post-match conference after winning the CME Group Tour Championship, Ko was asked about how she would feel to be in the Hall of Fame. And in her response, Ko said“If I could ever go in the Hall of Fame, it would be really cool, especially with so many of the big names and the legends that are in the Hall of Fame,”.

However, she continued to say that despite being so close to the opportunity, she was focused only on her game. “I just try to focus on my game,” she said. “I know that if I play good golf and keep putting myself in contention, all of those other things are going to follow.”

She also mentioned that she realized how important the opportunity was and that it doesn’t come very often. But she had to keep focusing on getting better at her skills on the field every day. And that if she does things rightly, she will receive what she truly deserves.

Although it was only a couple of days back when she confirmed that her target was getting into the Hall of Famers, her recent statements completely contradicted her own words. Ending her remarks she said“I don’t think I’m going to think too much about the Hall of Fame.”

She added, “It will be a huge honor, but it’s definitely not the biggest thing as a goal for next year.” It is Ko’s ninth season on the LPGA Tour at the age of just 25 years. As of now, Ko has 19 tour victories and is willing to give everything it takes to secure more of them.
