The crowd is ready to see some action as the world’s No. 1 Scottie Scheffler represents Team USA in Golf. However, there is a catch! In a press conference with Men’s Olympic Golf Competition, Scheffler was asked if he could be a multi-sport athlete in the Olympics. And to no one’s surprise, the golfer said, “I don’t think so. But sometimes I have irrational self-confidence, and maybe if I really put my mind to it.”

Fans know what his exceptional skills can do if the golfer really puts them to use. However, the 12-time PGA Tour winner isn’t planning to trade his golf clubs for a tennis racket anytime soon, “I don’t think you’ll be seeing me out playing tennis in the Olympics any time soon the table version or the regular version.” Scheffler seems quite adamant for someone who loves tennis so much that he plays them in between the golf rounds.

That’s right, the golfer was seen playing tennis in the Ryder Cup team rooms. But he doesn’t think he’s that good of a tennis player. “I would have considered the table tennis that we played elite, and I’m pretty sure it’s far from it,”  said Scheffler. He also went to see the tennis match at the Olympics ahead of his own competition. The golfer, like any other athlete, respects and honors the Olympic gold medal, and in the press conference, he also expressed how much it means to him.

Scottie Scheffler expressed his thoughts on the Olympic gold medal.

“It would be very special to have the gold medal,”  said Scheffler. It’s news to no one what kind of value the Olympic gold medal holds and how much hard work it takes to get one. However, it is important to recognize that hard work is the reason why Scheffler is taking it slow; he believes his life is not going to end if he doesn’t win the grand competition.

According to Scheffler, he treats every golf tournament with the same respect and seriousness, and that stays the same even for the Olympics. “I feel like that any time I show up, I’m trying to do my best, and that’s definitely the case this week,”  said the golfer. Yet, the feeling of winning the gold and making his country proud still holds some place in the plater’s heart: “I’m looking forward to the chance to compete for a medal for our country.”

With several wins under his belt, Scottie Scheffler is ready to mark victory on the grand stage as well. Do you think he’ll be able to win the golf tournament at Le Golf National? Let us know in the comment section below!
