The PGA Tour will finally conclude its 2024 season! After the regular FedEx season ended at East Lake, the Fall FedEx season will play the final at the Sea Island Golf Club in Georgia. With the RSM Classic, a new winner will be announced.
Amidst the intense competition, a one-time PGA Tour winner is excited for more than just the winner’s payout of $1.368 million and the trophy. After the third round ended, Michael S. Kim received an email from the PGA Tour for the final round tee time. Kim was paired up with Stanford alum Joseph Bramlett and 2009 Open Championship winner Stewart Cink.
The 1-time PGA Tour winner was extremely excited to share how playing on the PGA Tour can give golfers different experiences every other day. He was paired with two young golfers on day three of the RSM Classic, Michael Thorjornsen and Luke Clanton. Thus, Kim wrote on X, “One of the truly unique things about playing on the pgatour and golf in general. I go from playing with 22 yr olds to a 51 yr old major champion.”

Just as Kim was excited to tee up with Cink and Bramlette, his followers were truly beaming as well because a victory as he plays with Stewart Cink may mean way more for Michael S. Kim’s career.

Stewart Cink was busy throughout the year as he made starts on the PGA Tour and PGA Tour Champions. At the latter, he even won his maiden victory at The Ally Challenge. And although Cink has not been able to card any top finishes on the PGA Tour, he has not lost hope or stopped trying for another good round. And at the RSM Classic, he finished solo 11th on the leaderboard after R3. Thus, this follower agreed with Kim and said, “No doubt Michael! Stewey, as you know, is a gem who can still send it. Go beat him!”
Another reciprocated a similar feeling as they commented, “Very cool experiences.” Indeed, this is not the case in any other league like LIV Golf. At the PGA Tour, the field is large, and there are more chances of meeting a new and different golfer than at the breakaway circuit, which is a plus point of the PGA Tour, kind of like a USP. However, from 2026 the field sizes will be reduced, but it will still be over 100.
It has been more than 6 years since Michael S. Kim ever lifted atrophy. He was last announced a winner at the 2018 John Deere Classic, and over the year, the South Korean pro has tried multiple times for a victory, but he failed. However, at the RSM Classic, Kim shot rounds of 65-69-68 to be T9 on the leaderboard and only four strokes behind the leader, Vince Whaley. That’s why one follower wished him for the win and said, “Nice!!! Now go out there and post a sweet # on Sunday!” Another predicted what Kim may shoot on Sunday if he stays in form and approaches the greens perfectly. They said, “You have a 61 in you tomorrow – stay present.”

As said, Michael Thorbjornsen (23) and Luke Clanton (22) accompanied Kim through two rounds. As he is excited to play with Stewart Cink, the 1-time PGA Tour winner was equally anticipating his play with both young golfers. He jokingly tweeted out, “These kids might call me Grandpa Kim” and shared how back in the day there was no LIV and all the golfers played together. Alluding to the same, this fan said, “You won’t be known as Grandpa Kim tomorrow!” as 51-year-old Cink would be there.
With a great pairing in the final round, Michael S. Kim would hope that his form stays consistent and he wins the 2024 RSM Classic six after his maiden PGA Tour win.
