Lilia Vu likes to rest after a bad day of golf like DJ

Due to Lilia Vu’s increasingly impeccable performance, questions regarding her strategy are on the rise. She recently revealed that her playing style is closer to DJ’s as opposed to Brooks Koepka. This is because while the former prefers to rest out after playing, the latter chooses to practice for longer hours.

In a faceoff between playing and practicing, Vu admitted that she would prefer playing rather than practicing, thus justifying her decision to align with Johnson’s approach. She emphasized how she prefers to rest after performances regardless of the results as a form of self-care and approach to the game.

In a recent podcast named Son of a Butch with Claude Harmon, Lilia Vu said, “Yeah, that’s the opposite of me. I think I’m on more of DJ’s path. If I play well, I’m not practicing. If I play badly, I need to forget my swing and then figure it out the next day. I don’t know why I got into that mindset. But I think it just helps me.”

Undoubtedly, following this approach has worked out well for the 26-year-old in the past. She has embarked on the major milestone of winning two majors in the last year, something that even many big names from the PGA Tour have not been able to achieve. But what is on the other side of the approaching spectrum that helps Brooks Koepka remain in his form?

What is the Brooks Koepka model?

The Brooks Koepka model finds itself on the opposite side of the one followed by Dustin Johnson and Lilia Vu. The 5x major champion emphasizes the importance of practice regardless of how he has performed after playing the game. Even after securing a great score, Koepka prefers to zoom into his performance, find out his shortcomings, and work on them.

After playing, Koepka likes to get the launch monitor out and dissect everything, inch by inch. Sometimes, it’s his caddie, Ricky Elliot, who has to ask him to go home since he has done well that day! Whereas, Dustin Johnson focuses on getting his rest after an event and getting back to his regular life. Lilia Vu resonates more with Johnson’s model, but Koepka’s model has worked well for him over the years!

Well, one can safely say, to each its own! What is your take on both of these styles? What kind of a golfer are you? DJ or BK? Let us know in the comments below!
