This tournament blends sports with entertainment, featuring 48 players split into two teams of former athletes, internet personalities, and golf creators. The prize pool started at $1 million, with Portnoy adding $700,000 more even before play began. Controversy is already brewing, including a recent spat involving golf influencer Paige Spiranac and internet star Nadeshot.

During the first episode of the Internet Invitational, Spiranac could be seen putting forth her opinion on the golfers. While doing so, she also had some comments about Nadeshot. These words did not land very well.

Spiranac, in a lighthearted manner, went on to say that she didn’t think Nadeshot was good at golf. “Nadeshot’s not very good at golf,” said Spiranac. Following this, in her recent X post, the golf icon went on to track back on her previous comments and also issued a public apology to Nadeshot. She admitted that it was not a good idea to call Nadeshot a bad golfer. The 32-year-old Spiranac wrote, “I’m sorry! To be fair my only first hand experience watching you play was years ago and you improved so much since! Please forgive me.”

Meanwhile, replying to Spiranac, Nadeshot joked about how spectators were hyping him up for just teeing up the ball straight. “I shoulda been walking around the Rocket Mortgage with a helmet on. Spectators were clapping just for teeing up the ball straight. At one point I thought Rickie Fowler was gonna sign a ball for me and call me an inspiration. No apology necessary,” said Nadeshot.

Interestingly, the Internet Invitational adopts a Ryder Cup-style format, placing these two personalities on opposing sides. Nadeshot is playing for Team Pink, and Spiranac for Team Orange. As Spiranac stirs up excitement at the tournament, she is also creating buzz with her latest YouTube golf series.
