Paige Spiranac Once Publicly Revealed How Harassment During College Days Forced the Golf Sensation To Delete Her ‘Instagram Account’

Paige Spiranac has always voiced her thoughts on cyberbullying. She considers herself to be an advocate for the cause and always provides opinions and support for those in need. However, in a recent episode of her podcast, the social media influencer shed light on being a victim of stalking as well as harassment during her college days.

Though Spiranac has dominated the world of social media, she also happens to be the host of the podcast, Playing A Round. In the weekly podcast, the former pro golfer talks about all the latest happenings around the world of sports.

However, in the recent episode Favorite Misleading Headlines of 2022, Spiranac revealed a troubling story from her college days. Something that forced her to change her Instagram profile name.

Paige Spiranac and her initial struggle on social media

Spiranac has the most number of followers on social media in the world of golf. Long before her career on the internet escalated, she had to undergo a lot of criticism and hatred from her fellow college students. The 29-year-old also expressed how most fans kept asking her the reason behind the change in her Instagram name. Which is Paige Renee, instead of Paige Brannock.

Renee was Paige’s middle name. However, the social media star shared the backstory behind the name. “In college, I was dealing with these girls who were harassing and stalking me”, said Spiranac. She added, “And so I deleted my Instagram account and I made a new one with my middle name, Renee”.

Paige Spiranac then began posting on her Instagram page. Only posting content related to golf to limit the abuse. However, it worked out better than expected as it sparked a career in social media. “That was the account that blew up and so I didn’t change my username”, said the 29-year-old.

Despite one of the worst moments of her career bringing out the best in her professional life, Spiranac still recalls the stalking incident as a ‘really bad’ experience. Moreover, after having millions of followers across social media platforms, she is still constantly pummeled with hateful comments. Nonetheless, just like in her college days, Spiranac has become quite accustomed to dealing with her haters.
