Following her appearance at The Internet Invitational, Paige Spiranac faced a torrent of abusive messages on her social handles. It went so out of hand that the social media star and rising golf personality broke down in front of the camera. Many have been following her for the brand she has created by being not just an influencer but also an athlete. But the recent scenario unfolded in a manner that exposed her to a darker, crueler side.

It all began as an entertaining drama between teammates at The Internet Invitational, a celebrity event hosted by Barstool Sports. The event pits online personalities against one another in competition. But behind this, another story was already at play. A long-standing “beef” between two people reignited on the course. And a few ill-judged jibes quickly spiraled online, where context was flattened and vitriol amplified. Spiranac paired up with Steele Rogers. And Rogers has had a beef with another rival, Jake Adams. That’s where it all began.
The brutal jabs thrown at the influencer completely went out of hand. One even wrote, “I fu–ing hate you. You stupid bi–h think you’re so much better than everyone at the internet invitational. Go k–l yourself, you stupid c–t.” Failing to tolerate the trolls any further, Spiranac opened up about how everything that unfolded at the Internet Invitational was unintentional. “These deep insecurities of, like, childhood, whatever is coming all back, and it’s like confirmation that no, you’re actually not liked, you’re annoying, and no one likes you, and you suck, and you’re terrible, and all of these things, and it’s just hard”, Spiranac shared while having an uncontrollable meltdown.

Soon after she shared her feelings online, fans tried to shower love and support on her. Her comment section was flooded with words supporting and motivating her. Overwhelmed by the words, she wrote in her Instagram story, “Hi, good morning, sorry for being emo last night, but thank you again for all the super kind messages.” She further wrote, “I’ll save my deep dark insecurities for therapy next time lol”. But how did Spiranac end up being in the spotlight of the debate?

During the Internet Invitational, Paige Spiranac, although she wasn’t directly involved in their history, added fuel to the moment. She suddenly strongly complained about how long Adams was taking to take a shot. Now, Rogers and Adams reportedly came out of the drama, mentioning how they have had a long-running inside joke and ‘beef’ between them.
However, once the context came out about how the rivalry was playful and pre-existing, Spiranac apologized, and Rogers clarified that the exchanges were part of their ongoing joke. But fans took it at face value and referred to her actions as disrespectful.

Adding to this, another incident unraveled when Spiranac took a dig at Nadeshot and commented how Nadeshot “is not very good at golf.” Although she later apologized, saying, “I’m sorry! To be fair, my only first-hand experience watching you play was years ago, and you have improved so much since! Please forgive me”, the damage was long done. However, now, it appears that fans are trying to understand how they might have misjudged Spiranac’s comments

Paige Spiranac condemns abusive fan behavior after witnessing a shocking stadium incident
Paige Spiranac got a bitter taste of fan behavior that rocked her significantly. And while she is now facing some support from her fans, the renowned golf influencer does not seem to be surprised by how fans misbehave with athletes nowadays. For example, this Ryder Cup, the golfing community was set ablaze when the US supporters constantly hurled abuse towards Rory McIlroy at Bethpage Black. As the fans chanted, “F–k you Rory,” concerns about how the spirit of the game was getting affected surfaced.

Surprisingly, when Spiranac got to know the same, the golf influencer stated that she was “not shocked.” This was because she herself bore witness to a similar fan behavior at a football game. Spiranac narrated to her followers how a man was drinking and shouting at players, hurling abuses. He was even trying to pick up physical altercations with other fans in the stadium.
However, what shocked Spiranac was the fact that the man’s 7-year-old nephew, too, listened to all the abuses and laughingly repeated the same. She posted the incident of the man throwing drinks at the players and stated that this was unacceptable behavior. The golf influencer also called for the authorities to impose a life ban on the fan. Surely, Spiranac is seemingly getting to terms with volatile fan behavior. Now, as she is en route to recovering from her meltdown, it will be interesting to see how things pan out for her in the near future.
