On Friday, Patrick Reed was almost halfway through his first round at LIV London when things took a disastrous turn. The golfer’s tee shot on the par-5 13th at the Centurion Golf Club found the thick grass, resulting in him trying a punch-out. The ball then launched out and moved to the left.

Unfortunately, there were a bunch of spectators on that side, and the ball nearly hit one of them. Thankfully, he ducked right in time to avoid what could have been a catastrophe of epic proportions. Following his second round at the Centurion, Reed shared his own perspective on the now-infamous incident.

After Patrick Reed almost took the fan’s head off, the situation got even more interesting. With the man unharmed, a few seconds later, the 32-year-old golfer shouted out, “FORE.” It calmed things down a bit, with announcer Jerry Foltz saying, “Even had the presence of mind to joke about it afterwards and yell, fore.

During the round 2 press conference on Saturday, Reed further reflected on the incident when asked whether he had seen a clip of the near calamity. “I didn’t see it on video; I watched it in person,” he said. The major winner recalled being concerned at the moment, saying, “I was worried that it was just going to take the guy’s head right off, and thank God he had fast reflexes because he ducked just in time.”
