Patrick Reed Opens Up About How the DP World Tour Has Been Treating The LIV Golf Defector

LIV Golf defector, Patrick Reed has claimed that he has been receiving unfair treatment at the ongoing French Open. The only Major Championship winner in the circuit, he alleged that his LIV Golf status was being used against him for the wrong reasons.

The 2018 Masters winner has hit out at the authorities of the French Open for keeping him in the dark about the pre-tournament events in the past week. Reed was absent in the friendly Pro-am competition and wasn’t in attendance for a press conference before the event, both of which he claimed to have been denied to him.

“It’s a slap in the face not to invite me to the press conference here, … not to have me play the pro-am and all those things,” he said.
“At the end of the day, it’s just my golf that I have control over. I’m here to support the Tour, France and all the people who are here.”
Reed further mentioned how people needed to change the perception of LIV Golf. He highlighted how other Tour players could switch from the PGA Tour to the DP Tour seamlessly, but made things difficult intentionally for LIV golfers.
“But I don’t see why we can’t move from the LIV to the European Tour (DP World Tour) like we usually move from the PGA Tour to the European Tour,” he claimed.
“A lot of players understand and support my choice and have nothing against me. I didn’t feel any animosity against me from them,” Reed said.

How has LIV Golf affected Patrick Reed’s participation in other Tour events?
The former Masters winner has faced criticism for his participation in DP Tour events. While LIV golfers have been banned from PGA events, a few competitions across the Atlantic have been open for the rebel league players.

However, the biggest disadvantage for Reed will be his absence from the upcoming Presidents Cup. The 2016 Ryder Cup hero was hailed as “Captain America” after his exploits at the Hazeltine National Golf Club in Minnesota. However, he will simply be another bystander for the next weekend as Team USA gears up for a competitive affair against the International team.
