“The pain I’m feeling is in the lower back, left side, it’s like spasms and I saw Jason in the truck yesterday and he said your glutes are not firing which made me giggle,” Casey said. He further explained that it does happen when you are over 40, and results in pain and spasms up the back.

He was aware that playing further was not possible, but did express frustration over just giving it away to someone playing against him.

“I don’t know. I can’t go through [to the weekend] so I guess it’s like, what’s the point?”

The three-time PGA Tour winner revealed they did do what they can to try and play. His back was taped, iced and heated, but nothing seemed to work. Physiotherapy and drugs were also used. However, problems arose when his back troubled him even after the treatment.

“(I) started to feel it on the chipping green and then couldn’t get past a 9-iron (on the range)”.
