The dream of a trio of PGA Championship titles might already be over for Justin Thomas. The two-time competition winner has carded a five-over par in his third round, which leaves him far off the leading men.
However, despite his below-par performance, he’s managed to bring himself into the limelight of the fans this week. Unfortunately, it wasn’t his work with the golf club but rather his apparel that quickly caught the attention of the supporters, infuriating them!

JT’s fashion choice makes all the wrong noise at the PGA Championship
Being a two-time victor at the major championship, great things were expected of the 30-year-old. However, Thomas struggled in dire conditions as he never managed to get going. So far, JT has failed to score under par at the PGA Championship, with round scores of 72, 73, and 75. While he managed to jump across the line to make the cut, another major championship seems to have swept away from Thomas.
Yet, many questioned his attitude towards the prestigious event during his time at the Oak Hills course. While there was nothing extraordinary about his dressing, Thomas wore his cap backward, which sent the wrong signal to the millions of fans watching the game.
I know stuffy country club etiquette well enough to bet that right now, there is some Oak Hill member who is *steaming* about this backwards hat play by JT. pic.twitter.com/dQwyW9rXn2

Indeed, several enthusiasts accused him of disrespecting the PGA Championship in his attempt to look fashionable. Here’s a selection of those tweets:
Looks silly for a 30 year old in a major championship.

@ColinCowherd is gonna have a heart attack

Some netizens even recalled their own brushes against esteemed club members, who loathed the view of a backward cap. Here are those tweets:
Was playing a green in view of the clubhouse one time when a club employee emerged to tell my playing partner to tuck in his shirt, saying, "The members are trying to dine."

Played as a guest at hillendale cc in Maryland. My shirt became untucked by back 9. I didn’t feel like tucking it back in. Within 10 mins someone drove over to me to tell me to tuck it back in. Lol.

He could never get in at Bushwood with that look.

I'm sure if he was -2 he wouldn't look like that.

Colin Cowherd does not appreciate this

Angry Oak Hill member: making us look like Joke Hill!

Honestly surprised PGA Tour doesnt have a hat policy that would prevent him from wearing it like that
— B (@sshhaayynnb) May 20, 2023
It’s rather evident that his fashion choice didn’t sit well with the fans. And perhaps JT will keep that in mind for when he heads back onto the course next!
After his PGA Championship failure, what’s next for Justin Thomas?
Having turned 30 this year, Thomas is no longer a rookie on the tour. One of the most admired and talented golfers around, the former World No. 1 is considered one of the favorites to win any event that he participates in.

Yet that confidence seems to have ceased to yield results. Thomas hasn’t registered a single victory this season, with his best result being a fourth-place finish at the WM Phoenix Open in February.

Thomas hasn’t made his mark on the biggest stages either. He finished outside the top 50 at the Players Championship, while he failed to make the cut at the season-opening major championship, the Masters Tournament.
