Jordan Spieth opens up about his injury woes

Despite the horrific weather conditions, which perhaps further aggravated his wrist injury, Spieth qualified for the weekend and found himself in the 42nd spot at the end of the third round. A huge reason why the golfer could be putting himself through this stress is because he’s chasing his career grand slam, for which he only needs a PGA Championship win.

And despite that massive dream to join the elite cohort of grand slammers and the week’s huge $3.15 million award, the 29-year-old was ready to turn his back on it all, thanks to his injury!

In an interview with Amanda Balionis that was shared by a Twitter page, Golf Injury Report, Spieth opened up about the woes of his hurting wrist coupled with the complexity of the course. “It was pretty ugly,” he said, talking about his thoughts about walking away from the much-coveted Wanamaker Trophy. “It was pretty frustrating. I potentially thought about packing it in, but took a couple of Advil.”

Amid talking about his potential withdrawal, the golf pro added that he was surprised with how well he was able to get the ball onto the fairway and shed light on the many scoring opportunities on the course that he would have been able to manage better if his wrist was not injured.

Despite the pain and the weather setbacks that caused him to be low on the leaderboard, Spieth is still looking forward to Sunday. “I am glad I finished it out today, and I should be good for tomorrow,” said the golfer, ending his interview, flaunting his mindset of always looking forward.

Spieth discusses the difficulty of playing at Oak Hill 

In the interview, the 3-time major winner also opened up about the difficulties of playing on the tough course in the rain. The golfer replied that it was tough. He claimed that it was difficult to keep the ball dry, but it was necessary since a wet ball could fly anywhere when hit.

“If you miss fairways here, you are in big trouble, and hitting them becomes exponentially difficult when you have got another variable,” he stated, bringing to light the trouble not just he but most of the golfers playing at the event were facing.
