A Major Development Around Tiger Woods’ Return

There are only a few days left to begin the first major of the year, the 2022 Masters. Yet, the golf world still doesn’t know whether Tiger Woods would play at the event or not.

According to Sports Illustrated, Woods is going to visit the Augusta National on Sunday ahead of the competition. The media house reported that he is likely to arrive at the Club unannounced, and it is to make sure that whether or not he can play at the course.

The moment the officials released the field list for the 2022 Masters Tournament with Woods’ name, the golf world has been discussing nothing but the same. He has neither confirmed nor denied his participation in the tournament. And this has made the fans and media discuss the topic more.

Moreover, recently, Woods was spotted landing in his private jet at the Augusta Regional Airport. His son Charlie Woods was with him as well.

Is Tiger Woods fit enough to play at the Masters? 

According to ESPN, a source revealed that he played 18 holes at the Augusta with his son and friend Justin Thomas“He played every one of them,” the close source disclosed to ESPN. “He looked good to me.”

If we are to believe this source, the chances of him playing at the Masters is high. However, nothing can be decided until Woods make an official announcement. According to Sports Illustrated, the starting times of round 1 are likely to announce on Tuesday. Therefore, Tiger will make the announcement regarding his participation by then.

Woods hasn’t played an official tournament in a year following his car accident in 2021 and injured his leg. He had played the PNC Championship with his son last December, in which he proved that his golfing skills are intact. However, it was a 36-hole tournament, and Woods used a golf cart to move around. 

The Masters is a 72-hole event, and the August National is known for its steep hills and length, and walking on it would be difficult for Woods if he is not as healthy as he was before the accident.

Since the field list was announced, speculations regarding Woods’ comeback at the Masters spread in the golf world like wildfire.
