The final cut has been made at the Southern Hills, the course hosting the 2022 PGA Championship. The current world no. 24 DP World and PGA Tour player has made it to the third round. Although he is happy with the result, the golfer doesn’t think the same about the course.

“You can hit a great putt, and they just don’t look like going in,” Tyrrell Hatton said. “…which is hard to accept when we’re playing in a major championship.” The golfer put forward his frustration after playing two rounds at the Southern Hills.

He also added that since it is not one of the “monthly medals,” his term, but major championships, the condition of the greens is not acceptable. “They’re bobbling all over the place,” he added. “It’s so hard to hole putts.”

Hatton is one of the world’s top best golfers. However, he hasn’t had a victory in the 2021-22 season yet. Out of all the tournaments he played on the PGA and DP World Tour, he has been in the top 10 five times.

Notably, Hatton has also criticized the Augusta National for its design. “If you hit a good shot, you should end up near the hole,” he had said then. “… not short-sided into a bunker because of the slopes that they’ve created and stuff.” He further added, “Yeah, I don’t think it’s a fair test at times.”

Fans’ reaction to criticism the PGA Championship received from Hatton!

Hatton’s comments on the greens of the Southern Hills haven’t sat well with the fans. The golf world considers being able to play at a major championship a blessing. Despite getting that opportunity, Hatton is complaining, which made the fans furious.

Hatton ended his second round with a T10 position on the leaderboard. Therefore, the golf lovers felt whether he and the top 9 contenders played on the same field. They mostly compared him with the leaders of the tournament after two rounds.

Furthermore, Hatton had criticized the Augusta National last month when he played there. This made the fans think that the golfer is against all the majors. They also wonder whether he will complain about the Old Course, the host of the upcoming Open Championship.

Hatton has been criticizing the events of the Tour. This made the people think about whether he is planning to join the Saudi-backed LIV Golf Series. And it is his way of showing his frustration with Tours for not letting the players play in the Saudi-backed league.
