A highlight for this year’s Sentry Tournament of Champions remains Phil Mickelson, who is back at the Plantation Course at Kapalua, Hawaii for the first time since 2001. Since the 51-year-old secured the Player Impact Program 8 million dollar prize, he needs to play one more event.

Rory McIlroy, Daniel Berger, Patrick Cantlay, Xander Schauffele, and Jon Rahm are a few other golfers playing in the star-studded event. As predictable as golf is, one can surely expect a high level of performance from everyone on the course, leading up to an interesting climax. The event features only winners from last year and will be back at the Plantation Course for its 24th edition.

Who won the Sentry Tournament of Champions in 2021?

Harris English won the last edition of the game by beating Joaquin Niemann, while Justin Thomas won in 2020. Xander Schauffele – who secured a spot this season due to his Tokyo Olympics gold – won in 2019. Dustin Johnson (won in 2018), will be missing the tournament for the second time in his career.

The event has always been seen as a celebration of the community in Maui and golf, also supporting local non-profits. “Golf allows time for connecting and listening, the same qualities that help us form lasting relationships with our customers,” Sentry writes on their site, always looking to strengthen their bond with golf.

The venue, on its end, is extremely scenic. It remains a fair challenge to the golfers and is named the No. 1 course in Hawaii. It was designed by Ben Crenshaw and Bill Coore, doing justice to its location and view. Having said that, let’s take a look at the tournament’s prize pool.

Winner’s payout at the Sentry Tournament of Champions 2022

As per reports, the total prize pool for the tournament is $8.2 million. The winner will apparently take home $1,476,000, while, the one who ranks second will win $810,000. Five hundred FedEx Cup points are also awarded to the winner, along with 62 Official World Golf Ranking points. Additionally, the winner also secures a two-plus season exemption on the tour, and 2022 Masters and PGA Championships births.

Naturally, the winner will also secure a spot in next year’s Sentry Tournament of Champions.
