The PGA Tour is nearing the end of its 2021-22 season, with less than 15 tournaments left on the schedule. After an intense battle to win the season’s third major, the U. S. Open, the golfers are now competing in the 2022 Travelers Championship. And here is all about the prize money and the other benefits the event offers its players!

The total purse of the 72-hole tournament is $8.3 million. Notably, 18% of the purse, the standard amount according to the Tour’s prize money distribution chart, will be presented to the champion.

Like most PGA Tour events, the Travelers Championship makes a cut after the first 36 holes, making only the top 65 and ties advance to the final two rounds. Nonetheless, only the players who finished all four rounds are eligible to win the prize money.

The champion’s benefits

The purse money is distributed among all the players who last for all the 72 holes. However, there are some benefits that the tournament offers just for its champion.

Apart from $1,494,000, the winner’s share of the total purse, the champion gets 500 FedEx Cup points. He will also receive 50 Official World Golf Ranking points, which will help him achieve a good ranking.

The TPC River Highlands in Cromwell is hosting the Travelers Championship. And it is currently being played by 156 Tour players.

Rory McIlroy, Patrick Cantlay, Jordan Spieth, Xander Schauffele, and many other world toppers are playing at the 2022 event. However, players like Brooks Koepka and Justin Thomas withdrew from the event. While Thomas had revealed the reason for his withdrawal, there is no explanation given about Koepka.

Nevertheless, the defending champion of the tournament, Harris English, is currently a part of the field. He won the event last year by battling in an intense 8-hole playoff with Kramer Hickok. Notably, Hickok is also part of the TPC River Highlands this week.
