A high school senior shares his PGA Tour experience

After participating in the Monday qualifiers for the WWT Championship, 17-year-old Billy Davis earned a spot in the PGA Tour event. Given his age, of course, all eyes were on him, and during an interview at the event, he faced a question about what made him play in the qualifiers!

He calmly spoke with a dead-pan face and said, “I mean, it was a course right by my house.” It wasn’t clear whether he intended it to be a joke or just a fact. He then explained how he had played a pre-qualifier before and was contemplating whether to play the qualifiers. Davis said he was initially unsure about it, and then later he was like, “All right, whatever.”

Davis then shared his experience playing with Korn Ferry Tour pros and being treated nicely in the first round. Speaking of his mindset about the rest of the rounds, he said, “I want to compete and do well, and make the cut.”
