During a recent radio interview with siriusxmpgatour, American professional Collin Morikawa brushed upon various Ryder Cup-related talks. While the interviewer applauded the golfer for his debut Ryder Cup performance of 3-0-1 at Whistling Straits, the emphasis was laid on the first hole played incredibly by the golfer.

In lieu of this, Brian Katrek and John Maginnes, the hosts of the show asked Morikawa about the expectations from the first hole in Rome. Considering the foreign soil, the 26-year-old exclaimed, “I expect it to be even better.” He recalled driving up on the first day for his debut Ryder Cup appearance, two years back, and being consumed with excitement and nerves.

Per the golfer, hearing the audience around 5 in the morning feels unreal, even though the support will incline more toward the Europeans. Yet, he explained how the presence of the fans generates energy among the players as well. Morikawa stated how the golfers “draw positivity out of the crowds,” knowing that people want to be there to watch them play.

His emphasis continued to lay on the great feeling of finally stepping on the course. Additionally, he brought forth a hopeful perspective of at last grabbing the cup on European soil for America. Along with divulging the expectations he has, the PGA Tour Pro set out some advice as a senior member to the new players on the American side.

As the Californian native opened up about his expectations from the Italian greens, he was soon encircled by another interesting question. This one entailed the golfer’s experience at the biennial event and his role as a veteran on the American side. Collin Morikawa was rather honest about the advice that could be presented to the beginners.

Recalling his previous performance, Morikawa said, “To be honest, all I was thinking was make contact,” and this was his way of directing the rookies heading out. As the American golfer acknowledged the balance on the team, he also said that the mantra is to “keep it as simple as possible. “

He believed that till golfers make the contact and focus on the tee shot, there is nothing that cannot be accomplished.
