Being at the center of attention might prove to be detrimental to most, but not to Brian Harman. The American Pro, through his Open Championship win in 2023, had already proved how he can thrive under attention. Well, it appears he has managed to do it yet again at the event which is deemed as ‘The Fifth Major’ of golf.

The 37-year-old was giving an interview after an impressive third round at THE PLAYERS Championship in TPC Sawgrass. Meanwhile, he was asked about the effect TV cameras and attention have on him, to which he, interestingly, pointed out the intrigue behind the same, leading to a certain positive mindset on the greens.

It appears the golfer did not always have the same attitude towards being in the spotlight. During the early days of his 15-year-long professional career, Harman couldn’t help but notice the attention being focused on him. Elaborating on it in the interview, he said, “There’s certainly times early in my career when the TV cameras start showing up and I’m like, Ok, great, now they want to film me or whatever.”

But, fascinatingly, the athlete managed to overcome the mentality over the years. “Nowadays it’s like, Well, they’re here because I’m playing well, and I’d rather be playing well than not playing well,” confessed the 1-time major champ as he doubled down on why he grew to love the limelight over his professional career. Well, he sure does seem to thrive as the cameras start coming out.

Fascinatingly, the third day of THE PLAYERS had all eyes on the 3-time PGA Tour champ. Why? Well, he could score a remarkable 8-under 64, the lowest he could dish out over 41 career rounds he played at the tournament. His previous best came in the second round on Friday when he registered figures of 7-under 65.

Meanwhile, the numbers he made during the third round helped him jump to third place from the ninth position. Notably, Harman wasn’t the only one who jumped around on the scoreboard.

Wyndham Clark, who had placed himself at the top spot of the field owing to his impressive numbers, was pushed down by Xander Schauffele who was at T2 yesterday. The former could only register a score of 2-under 70 on the third day along with figures of 65-65 on the first two days to total a score of 16-under.

Schauffele, however, managed to score a 7-under during the third day’s play, allowing him to top the leaderboard pushing past his fellow PGA Tour pro with impressive numbers of 65-69-65 totalling a score of 17-under. Well, seems the community is truly in for an exciting finale to ‘The Fifth Major’ on Sunday. Let us keep our eyes fully open lest we miss it!
