The ‘Gentleman’s Game’ is not as easy as it looks. Golf is a game that requires insane focus, as well as luck when making a shot. Meanwhile, not all shots made by an athlete would traverse the path that was intended. Unfortunately, John Daly seems to have realized the same owing to one of his recent tee shots.

A video was shared on the internet of the 57-year-old driving the ball at the ongoing PGA Tour Champions event. However, surprisingly, it appears the fans in the community couldn’t help but respond to the golfer and his shot which, apparently didn’t turn out the way he intended it to be.

The post shared by Foreplaypod on their Instagram handle, with the caption “JOHN DALY. ONE OF US.,” basically showcases the senior pro, making his tee shot at the Hoag Classic. Interestingly, Daly went ahead to hit the shot, which resulted in a shank towards the trees on the left side of the fairway, while wearing a wild getup with orange pants and a green jacket.

In the meantime, his performance at the PGA Tour Champions event was nothing short of disappointing as he could only finish T73 after round 1 with a score of 3-over 74. Moreover, during the event, the 2-time major champ carded out three bogeys, two double bogeys, and four birdies, the last of which came on the back nine.

The community decided not to just sit back and watch the shot. They went ahead to comment under the post. As soon as the ball was driven off the tee, the person recording the video immediately remarked, “I can do that,” which elicited a comment under the post; “‘I can do that’ Yeah no s**t buddy.”

Unfortunately, if you think the fans in the golf world stopped there, then you’re sorely wrong. The internet was thrown into a fervor following the 57-year-old’s swing and the shank that resulted from it.

Daly’s shank sends the golf world into a frenzy

From followers comically alluding to the golfer as drunk no less to others hilariously mentioning how he would do better drunk, there were a lot of comments under the video. Meanwhile, let us take a look at some of them.

Some followers couldn’t help but comment on the senior pro and his drinking habit. However, the comments they dished out were nothing short of hilarious as one person responded, “Probably still drunk,” to which another replied just as quickly, “probably too sober.”

During a fundraiser event at Myrtle Beach, Daly had gone ahead to show off his talents by using a beer can as a tee, following which he decided to chug down the beverage. Surprisingly, a fan alluded to the same while pointing out the mistake he made in the video, albeit hilariously; “Problem was he wasn’t hitting it off a beer can!”

Ever seen Prince T’Challa tell his soldiers to give Captain America a shield in the Avengers Endgame movie? Fascinatingly, an enthusiast couldn’t help but imitate the same as they replaced shield with beer, as they reacted, “Get this man a beer, he’ll be all good!”

Another follower took this as a chance to take a jab, albeit a jab at the player and his habit of being intoxicated on the course. Interestingly, Daly had once admitted he drank five beers in the middle of a round in a PGA Tour event. Well, no wonder a fan went ahead to comment, “Not enough DC in his system.”
