The top players from the Official World Golf Rankings are scheduled to appear at Tennessee to tee off at the first of the three FedEx Cup playoffs. Defending Champion Will Zalatoris, who took home a massive sum of $2.7 Million last year, will sadly not be appearing in the event as per the PGA Tour’s field. Here are some of the top contenders based on their power rankings.

  1. Scottie Scheffler – The world no. 1 golfer has maintained his position on the top of the leaderboard throughout the season. In the majority of events, Scheffler made it to the top 10 or top 5. He took home two titles this season at the WM Phoenix Open and The Players Championship.
  2. Rory McIlroy – The second-ranked North Irishman may not have won a Major title in a decade, but his streak this season has been spectacular. Ranking second on the OWGR, Rory McIlroy won the CJ Cup at the beginning of the season and has since made it into the top 10 at 6 other events, including a runner-up finish at the US Open. Last month, he also won the Scottish Open.
  3. Jon Rahm – The third-ranked Spaniard has been on an all-time high this season. He claimed the title at 4 PGA tour events including the Masters Tournament at Augusta.
  4. Brian Harman – The ninth-ranked winner of the 2023 Open Championship turned a lot of heads and earned his place in the FedEx Cup rankings with his win. His steady improvement in gameplay makes him one of the top contenders for the title.
  5. Wyndham Clark – The 29-year-old claimed his maiden title at the US Open this season where he defeated Rory McIlroy. The 11th-ranked player in the rankings has been accepted as a player at the Ryder Cup 2023 as well.
