The Northern Trust has started off the FedExCup playoffs on an interesting note, complete with some unexpected departures and weather-caused delays. The final round of the event had to be postponed due to the hurricane, giving everyone the Sunday off. Jon Rahm and Cameron Smith are tied for the first spot, while Erik van Rooyen, Justin Thomas, and Tony Finau follow.

Of course, this delay gives the players some time to themselves – and maybe one extra day to prepare for the final round.

A few hours after the announcement was made, PGA Tour shared what some golfers would do on the Sunday Round 4 was to be held on. “I’ve got a nice smooth piece of carpet that I can role on. It’s more common I think than you guys would think, guys putting in their room,” said Finau.

Others also had a similar response – relaxing and putting.

“Probably a lot of putting in my room,” said Justin Thomas. “And a lot of eating and a lot of TV watching”.

Viktor Hovland had a hilarious response – adding that he would rather stay indoors as he does not want the storm to blow him over.

How Justin Thomas and Other PGA Tour Pros Enjoyed Their Rare Sunday Off at the Northern Trust

“Based on the projected path of Tropical Storm Henri and the Tropical Storm Warning that has been issued by the National Hurricane Center for the area where THE NORTHERN TRUST is located, there will be no play on Sunday, August 22nd,” PGA Tour’s statement read. The news of weather affecting the schedule was reported earlier itself.

While Rahm was indeed leading most of the time, Smith seems to have caught up with his impressive Round 3. The current hurricane Henri might not cause destruction, but a shortened course might help Rahm win the event. That being said, the weather might also put a dampen on Monday, postponing the games further.
