Is Stephan Jaeger Playing in Masters 2024?

The first major of the year is slowly inching closer. Yes, we are talking about the 2024 Masters Tournament that will hit the golfing community next week on April 11. Interestingly, the attention of the golf world naturally falls on Stephan Jaeger and whether he would be able to grace the greens at Augusta National.

Meanwhile, the German pro managed to make a lot of heads turn in the community with his display of skills at the recently ended Texas Children’s Houston Open. What’s more, fortunately, his win at the tournament in Texas does give him a ticket to the upcoming major that is set to kick off at the iconic golf course.

As per the Augusta Chronicle, “Winners of PGA Tour events that award a full-point allocation for the season-ending Tour Championship, from previous Masters to current Masters,” are qualified to play at the major. And Jaeger, with his first victory in the Jay Monahan-led circuit a couple of weeks before the championship, qualifies for the same.

That’s not all! Fascinatingly, the triumph in Texas has also helped him rake in a total of 44.64908 points on the Official World Golf Rankings. These points, when added to his already existing numbers of 75.18425, will allow him to total a figure of 119.83333, propelling him into the top 50 in the world rankings.

Well, here comes the Augusta Chronicle again. According to the qualification criteria, “The 50 leaders on the Official World Golf Ranking published during the week prior to the current Masters Tournament” are allowed entry into the field at the first major of the year. All of this was made possible owing to Jaegar’s victory in Texas.

Stephan Jaeger’s first PGA Tour win

The 34-year-old registered a score of 12-under 268 after four days of play, all the while earning a cut of $1,638,000 from the total prize purse of $9.1 million. Moreover, he was also able to obtain 500 FedEx points as a result of his figures of 69-66-66-67 on the par-70, 7,435-yard Memorial Park Golf Course.

Meanwhile, this came out to be his first victory on the Monahan-led circuit and his seventh professional win. All of Stephan Jaeger’s previous wins came on the Korn Ferry Tour, the last of which he clinched in 2021, at the Emerald Coast Classic, where he won against David Lipsky through a playoff hole. Anyhow, a lot of eyes will surely be on the golfer who managed to beat the likes of the current No. 1, Scottie Scheffler in Texas.
