Golf and traditions. They are two things that usually go hand in hand. This is especially true when it comes to the Masters Tournament. Consequently, the recent Par-3 contest on Wednesdays during the week of the major is yet another convention that has made the patrons go head over heels. However, this time around, the fans couldn’t help but throw out shades of worry as a peculiar Jordan Spieth sight caught their eyes.

A tweet was shared by the official X handle (formerly Twitter) of the PGA Tour on April 10, showcasing snippets of the adorable Par 3 contest in Augusta. However, what followed was nothing short of worrying, as a fan went ahead to respond to the same with a snap of Spieth’s fingers, all the while painting a concerning picture!

Joe I, on his X handle, shared a close-up of the PGA Tour pro’s right hand as he was talking to his young son Sammy who was caddying for him at the contest. However, he did not go easy on the golfer, as he took a jab at him while captioning the snap, “The hands of a man not afraid to play it off the roof and into a gutter.”

Meanwhile, during the day’s play, Sammy went ahead to rake in all the spotlight for himself and his partner in crime, Rickie Fowler’s daughter, Maya Fowler. What’s more, the Jay Monahan-led circuit also shared a couple of snaps of the two toddlers enjoying the greens at Augusta.

There were a total of three pictures shared by the PGA Tour on Instagram. The first one showcased the two donning the white caddie overalls with a smile on their faces, while the second snap saw Jordan Spieth’s kid attempting to drive the ball, followed by a picture of Fowler looking at his young daughter on the course. Such an adorable moment was soon overshadowed by the image of the 30-year-old’s hands.

Does Spieth’s hand hint at an NFL past?

Even Jordan Spieth might not have imagined the number of responses that came as a result of the snap of his right hand. There were a lot of reactions, ranging from those putting forth the query of whether he played football to others portraying worry for the golfer; “Dude what is wrong w his hand.” Besides, there were even those who decided to tease the PGA Tour pro as they went ahead to comment, “What is going on with the ring finger? Did he jam it retrieving his ball from the gutter of the clubhouse on an unstable ladder? Classic dad move.”

Interestingly, hand strains and injuries are very common among athletes playing in the NFL. Moreover, repeated fractures of the bones in a player’s hands or fingers can further lead to deformities that can restrict the movement of the joints. Well, some followers couldn’t help but point out the same while jokingly alluding to Spieth as a former footballer who played in the NFL. They went ahead to respond with comments such as “Looks like he played guard or center in the NFL for about 10 years,” while referring to the posture and the unique fingers he was sporting. Meanwhile, another came forward to humorously ask, “Golfer or a defensive lineman? Sheesh”

Jordan Spieth has suffered many injuries over the years, with his hands and wrists taking the brunt of the damage. Back in 2023, the golfer had to shut down practice for a couple of weeks when he hurt his wrist again, which was already injured in 2018. Unfortunately, the problem came as a result of an issue with his ulnar nerve that came down from his shoulder to his hand. That’s not all. He had also suffered another accident while weightlifting, which caused a bone chip in his left hand. Well now, it appears the athlete can add another name to the list, all thanks to his fans who asked, “Does he have RA or something???” while another hinted at the same: “Almost looks like nodules from rheumatoid arthritis. Probably not, but just kind of looks that way.”
