Weeks After Slopping off From the $3,000,000,000 Turmoil, an Apologetic Commissioner Jay Monahan Makes a Staggering Revelation

Every golf fanatic, or even the individual who follows the sport minimally, remembers the day of June 6 and the significance it holds in the sport. Just for a quick walk down memory lane, it was the day when the PGA Tour and the DP World Tour announced their merger with LIV Golf and the Saudi PIF. The aftermath of the announcement was not quite up to expectations, and the PGA Tour and Commissioner Jay Monahan faced a lot of backlash from fans and golfers.

To everybody’s surprise, days after making the announcement, the PGAT’s Commissioner stepped away from his role for an indefinite period due to some undisclosed medical issues. But now, it seems, the golf world will finally see the light at the end of the tunnel and get some more concrete information about the $3 billion merger.

The Tour’s commissioner, Monahan, has shared that he is ready to resume his duties as per his role after almost a month of recovering from an undisclosed health concern. In a letter he wrote to the members on Friday, he said that he will join back as the commissioner on July 17th and will be available now with every ounce of his energy.

Monahan apologized to everyone in the letter for his absence and wrote, “I deeply apologize for not being able to be with you during this time.” He shared a bit more about his drastic health update, stating that everybody has found the last two years difficult, and after the announcement, his health suddenly deteriorated with some serious implications.

He thanked his family for the support, and he also extended his thanks for the “world-class medical care” that helped him improve his health “dramatically.” Jay Monahan’s exit from the Tour at such a crucial time attracted a lot of backlash from the golf world, and many people raised many questions about his decisions. Now that he is back, it would be thrilling to see what the future holds for the PGAT’s commissioner.

What does Monahan’s return to the Tour signify?

Before he went on a sabbatical from his duties, the commissioner had boldly stated that he would be rewarding every golfer who had chosen to stay loyal to the PGA Tour in the difficult times of poaching. He had also added that he would not let the golfers loyalty go in vain and would only engage in agreements that were best for the Tour and the players during the merger.

Monahan was appointed as the CEO of the new entity that the three golf leagues, the PGA Tour, the DP World Tour, and LIV Golf, will form together when the distinctive agreement is finalized. The new profit-making entity will be chaired by Al-Rumayyan. The spectators are eagerly waiting for some concrete updates on the $3 billion merger and the future of all the involved leagues! Monahan’s return will just speed up the process, and all the people eagerly waiting for an update will probably get one soon!
