As the current golf season is approaching its end, the closing world rankings for the season are becoming a topic of discussion. In men’s golf, Scottie Scheffler is currently in the first position, with Rory McIlroy and Jon Rahm closely behind him. Considering the points, standings, and schedule, Scheffler is quite safe, as it appears.

However, the scene is not so clear about women’s golf this season. The competition is close and fierce and there are about four events to decide the final outcome. A dramatic chase for the number one position is surely expected. Let’s look into who stands where in the world rankings.

Scheffler is safe and sound at No.1, but what about Women’s golf?

It appears that McIlroy and Rahm will only play in the DP World Tour Championship before the season ends. There are no other events scheduled in the DP World Tour’s current season. Although there are four more events in the LPGA schedule, it looks like Rahm and McIlroy aren’t in the field for the events. Scottie Scheffler’s number 1 rank isn’t going anywhere this season.

Coming to Women’s golf, the competition is getting fierce as the season gears up for a grand finish. With the Maybank Championship that just got over, and the four other LPGA events lined up next, the Rolex rankings are going to face dynamic changes over the next few weeks.

For instance, Lilia Vu was at number 1, until the recent Maybank Championship got over. Ruoning Yin was at number 2, and Jin-Young Ko was at number 3. Following the top three, Minjee Lee, Celine Boutier, and Nelly Korda occupied the next three positions, in that order.

Now the Maybank Championship witnessed some surprising turns and twists, shuffling up the top of the Rolex standings in and out.

Mayhem at the Maybank Championship

In the recently completed Maybank event, Ruoning Yin finished in a shared seventeenth position. That was enough for her to skip above Lilia Vu and get into the first position in the Rolex World rankings table.

Celine Boutier won the tournament after a desperate clash with Atthaya Thittikul in the playoffs. This helped her get to the third position, ahead of Jin Young Ko and Minjee Lee. Ko dropped to the fourth position. Nelly Korda, with her T6 finish, jumped up to the fifth position, leaving Lee behind at number 6.

With four more events in the LPGA Tour, anything could happen in the final leg of this season. Who are you rooting for this year to be crowned World’s number 1 female golfer?

The sport has a certain calmness to it that attracts me. Much like every golf enthusiast. I, too, have many favorites in the golf world. Max Homa's humor makes me laugh, Rory McIlroy's intensity makes me curious, while Celine Boutier's awkwardness helps me relate more to these athletes and the sport, and Nelly Korda's smile just always mesmerizes me! Hence, diving in depth into all their lives and more is more than a joyous experience.
