The third major championship of the season, the 2022 U. S. Open, ended on June 19 at the Brookline Country Club. With a 1-stroke lead, 27-year-old Matthew Fitzpatrick emerged as the winner of the event. Notably, the English golfer climbed eight ranks higher to enter the Top 10 on the Official World Golf Rankings. 

It takes a lot of preparation and hard work to win a tournament, especially a major. The golfer would also need an incredible set of clubs to make him confident on the course. And the English golfer has just that.

Inside the 2022 U. S. Open champion’s bag

The 8-time DP Tour title winner uses a Titleist TSi3 driver. It helps him get more precise control over CG placement. As one of the ambassadors of Titleist, Fitzpatrick also carries wedges and balls from the brand in his bag. He uses a Titleist Vokey Design SM9 with rue Temper Dynamic Gold Tour Issue S300 for his wedges. Additionally, he plays with Titleist Pro V1x balls. 

The 27-year-old carried two fairway woods to the Brookline Country Club this week; a G425 Max 14.5 degree 3-wood and a G410 20.5 7-wood. Furthermore, Fitzpatrick also has the 4-iron i210 and a 7-iron S55. Although the brand is not on his sponsors‘ list, the golfer has all of his woods and irons from Ping. 

As for his putter, Fitzpatrick has a Bettinardi DASS BB1 Flow Tour Dept. He became one of the ambassadors of the Bettinardi brand in 2020. Notably, he was named the second-best putter on the PGA Tour in 2020.

Additionally, the golfer uses Golf Pride Tour Velvet as a grip for all his clubs. 

Matthew Fitzpatrick at the Brookline Country Club

The 2022 U. S. Open was a nail-biting tournament with the Masters champion Scottie Scheffler, the major event expert Will Zalatoris, and Fitzpatrick contending to win the title. 

The English golfer won his first major with a 1-stroke lead against the two and acquired his second victory at the Country Club. He had won the 2013 U.S. Amateur in the Brookline-based club. 

Notably, he ranked 18th on the OWGR standings before entering the tournament. However, following his first major victory, the golfer’s rank ascended to No. 10.
