What happened to Tiger Woods? The golfer had, a while back, withdrawn from his 2024 PGA Tour debut at the Genesis Invitational owing to an illness, per reports. However, Rob McNamara, the professional’s friend and business partner, spoke out candidly and revealed what happened to the 48-year-old not too long ago.

When asked about the same, McNamara divulged how he had felt some “flu-like symptoms last night” which worsened “this morning.” Adding on, he said, ” He [Woods] had a little bit of a fever and that, and was better during the warm-up,” before going ahead to continue how “he started feeling dizzy” as soon as the pro got out there and started “walking and playing.” Meanwhile, commenting on the ambulances, he said, ” It was all medical illness, dehydration” while disclosing how his back is fine.

“He’s got some — potentially some type of flu,” said the 48-year-old’s friend as he explained more about the situation. Continuing with his response regarding the illness query, he disclosed how the doctors also diagnosed Mr. T as being “dehydrated” all the while treating him with an IV bag. “He’s doing much, much better,” said McNamara before continuing, “he’ll be released on his own here soon.”

Meanwhile, a while back, the 82-time PGA Tour champ was spotted leaving the golf course with his team. NUCLR GOLF reposted the video shared by Bob Harig on his X handle where the athlete got into a red tournament car as he left the course following his withdrawal from the event. He had stopped playing after a tee shot on the seventh after which he was rushed out in a golf cart.

During the first six holes, he was able to score a birdie on the 1st while carding out bogeys on the 4th and 5th. Meanwhile, his first round showcased the American professional scoring a total of five birdies and six bogeys, four of the latter of which came in the back nine. This pushed his first day’s score to a total of 1-over 72, putting him in danger of missing the cut. Interstingly, his pulling out marks the third instance after 2021 where he had to walk away amid a tourney.

Out of the seven of them, including the recent one, he has a total of three withdrawals at the 2023 Masters Tournament, the 2022 PGA Championship, and the 2024 Genesis Invitational. Nevertheless, one can only hope he comes out healthy and safe after taking enough rest enabling him to make a successful comeback on the greens in 2024.
