After an enthralling week at Valspar Championship, the PGA Tour moves to the WGC-Dell Match Play. The Austin Country Club in Texas will continue to host this event for the seventh straight year. Moreover, this is the only WGC event with a match play format. Hence, viewers will experience a different and fascinating format this week.
Furthermore, this event has a Wednesday start, unlike other PGA Tour events, which start on Thursdays. Therefore, as we are heading towards the first round, PGA Tour shared the all-time greatest shots from WGC-Dell Match Play over the years. This event has seen some incredible strokes from prominent and event rookie players. So the PGA Tour has combined the top-25 best shots from this unique event.

Players like Tiger Woods, Justin Thomas, Phil Mickelson, Bryson DeChambeau, and others have shown their dominance in this event. And this year, the field has top players like Justin Thomas, Jordan Spieth, and Collin Morikawa. However, when we look at the format of play, it can be overwhelming for fans to understand.
Format for the WGC-Dell Match Play
The WGC-Dell Match Play is a unique event with a match play format. Hence, prominent players have always given this event a priority. Moreover, the field comprises a limited number of players, with only 64 golfers qualifying according to their OWGR rankings.

So they divide the 64 players into 16 groups of four. And each player competes against the other three golfers from their group over the first three days. Therefore, a win gives a point while a tie gives a half-point, and a loss is worth zero points. Hence, only the top players from each group will proceed to the knockout stage.

Additionally, if two or more players finish with the same points at the top after three days, they will have to go through a sudden-death playoff. Therefore, fans have plenty of exciting golf coming up for this week. So here’s how things will go ahead this week:
