The 2025 Ryder Cup was just the start of what was coming for Robert MacIntyre in the following weeks. He now calls it “mad few weeks,” and not without some solid reasons. Aside from stellar performances from the likes of Rory McIlroy, Tommy Fleetwood, and others, MacIntyre claimed 1.5 points for Team Europe, eventually helping them reclaim the Ryder Cup trophy with a strong 15-13 win. But a lot happened beyond it.

In a recent Instagram post, the European Ryder Cup star reflected on the Bethpage week, writing, “Ryder Cup from start to finish was a dream,” and added, “Once the week got going it was carnage but that’s what we expected so we were ready for that.” The carnage, without a doubt, includes the European team’s stunning performance during the match play. Regardless, he accepted that “Sunday didn’t go to plan, but the job was to win the Ryder Cup which we achieved and boy did we celebrate.”

But just a week later, MacIntyre faced his former team member, Tyrrell Hatton, at the $5M worth Alfred Dunhill Links Championship. Talking about the same, MacIntyre writes, “Had zero expectations [for Dunhill Links]” yet, “Sunday at St Andrews is always a treat but to play the way I played alongside Tyrrell Hatton who also played magic was special.” Hatton did indeed, but it was MacIntyre who took home the win on his home soil.

It wasn’t your usual event, however. The intense weather meant that the Saturday round was postponed, forcing the event into a 54-hole tournament. Regardless, MacIntyre shot a straight 6-under 66 at St. Andrews to become the first Scot to win Alfred Dunhill Links in 20 years. Meanwhile, Hatton shot a respectable 65, but finished four shots adrift of the champion.

But MacIntyre has talked about his second European win plenty of times. Following the win, for instance, he smiled and confessed, “I’ve done everything against the book this week, from preparation. I pitched up Wednesday afternoon. I know the golf courses. Played 12 holes on Wednesday.”

Yet, he added, “But yeah, sometimes when you are least expecting it, things happen.” Indeed, that seems to be the case for MacIntyre who climbed his career best world ranking (8th) following the win. Regardless, MacIntyre isn’t the only European to have defeated his former team member during an event in the last few weeks. That list will include Tommy Fleetwood.

Tommy Fleetwood wins against his former team members in India

Tommy Fleetwood capped off an incredible season with a thrilling 7-under 65, edging out Keita Nakajima by two shots at the DP World India Championship. Fleetwood’s four-birdie blitz around the turn was the turning point, as he stormed back from a two-shot deficit to claim his first DP World Tour win of the year. This wins marks the third time in three months that Fleetwood has had reason to celebrate, following his FedEx Cup title and Team Europe’s Ryder Cup win.

For Fleetwood, this win was a long time coming. “Another win, it feels great,” he said. The 34-year-old Englishman had been chasing a win on this tour this season, and it finally arrived. The victory not only gives him his eighth career DPWT win but also propels him to No. 25 in the Race to Dubai, making him eligible for the Abu Dhabi Championship and the season-ending DP World Tour Championship in Dubai.

Of course, this did not come without defeating his former allies. Shane Lowry finished tied for three, Viktor Hovland finished T6, and Rory McIlroy finished tie for 26th, 11 shots behind Fleetwood. On the other hand, this win was extra special because of a shared moment between Fleetwood and his son, Frankie.

As he tapped in for par on the 18th hole, Fleetwood’s son ran onto the green, a moment that meant the world to the English golfer. “It means so much to me,” Fleetwood said after the win, revealing that Frankie had told him he had never won a tournament where he could run out to the green to greet him. “That was really cool. That’s what I wanted to do all day.” Well, that and defeating his fellow pros.
